OK High School Preseason Spotlight: Edmond Santa Fe
February 10, 2021
The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on March 2nd, opening day for regular season action under Ossaa regulations. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2021 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.
Perennially, we’ve submitted a Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.
If you would like your team covered, please have your head coach email us at [email protected]
Our 2021 preseason coverage continues today.

TOP PLAYERS
Cayden Brumbaugh, SS, 2021, Oklahoma State commit
Leading the charge for Edmond Santa Fe at the shortstop position is Brumbaugh, one of the stop senior prospects in the state. He’s viewed as the squads top all-around contributor, operating as their tone setter both offensively and defensively. The experience that Brumbaugh brings to the table as a three-year starter is unparalleled, too. A former PBR Future Gamer, here is his scouting report from our OK Top Senior Games this past June:
“5-foot-10, 175-pound. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 95 mph. Starts in a tall stance with a small load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is explosive, exhibits flat swing plane and level finish. He found some barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, displayed a velocity of 79 mph; had soft hands, a quick exchange and smooth footwork. Had a high ¾ slot with a short arm action.”
The power arm for this Edmond Santa Fe team, the older Lunceford brother returns as this team's ace on the hill. With a fastball that sits at 90-91 mph and a slider that’s flashed aggressive swing-and-miss action off a sharp plane, Lunceford will look to build off a strong all-around summer and anchor this staff.
Cooper Jenson, LHP, 2021, Wichita State commit
Boasting a monstrous 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame, Jensen is another electric arm that Edmond Santa Fe will trot out there to compete for their squad. He was off to a hot start last season prior to the high school season’s cancellation and built off that into the summer with the hope that he can carry that momentum into 2021.
Logan Lunceford, RHP, 2022, Missouri commit
Built from a slightly different mold than his older brother Morgan, Logan completes the trio of powerful arms for this club. He’s ranked inside the top-300 nationally for the 2022 class and recently represented Team Oklahoma at the PBR Future Games before committing to Missouri shortly after. He comfortably attacks the zone with a fastball that sits at 87-89 mph, complimenting that heater with both a curveball and changeup. Lunceford will also serve as a key offensive contributor for this team.
Tasked with catching all these highly talented arms is White, a stable defensive presence behind the plate for head coach Ryan Phillips’ squad. His impact and attention to detail defensively will obviously be key to this team’s success on that side of the ball. Here is his scouting report from our OK Underclass Prospect Games from June:
“5-foot-9, 148-pound slim frame. In the box, White recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph. Started in a balanced stance with a controlled slow load, then used a toe tap just before his swing. Bat speed is some, displays flat swing plane and level finish. Was able to create some loud contact and found some barrels.Line drive approach. Behind the plate, recorded a pop time of 2.15-2.22, his best recorded throw to second was clocked at 68 mph; showed a developing exchange, consistent developing feet and soft sure hands. Some flexibility and staggered setup.Showed some accuracy to the bag with a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.57.”
Qualls is the lone returning outfielder for Edmond Santa Fe and he’ll be asked to do a lot of things for them on both sides of the ball. A switch-hitter, he provides offensive versatility and natural, crisp outfield actions.
There will be some new faced joining the Wolves this year as well.
The Oklahoma State commit was a standout at the Future Games two years ago and has continued to tack on velo ever since. Sitting in upper 80s and low 90s now with a sharp slider as his main secondary offering, Shatwell will obviously be a huge addition to the staff that will throw some very important innings.
Emerging as one of the top offensive players in the 2023 OK class, Mitchell could be an impact bat in the middle of Sante Fe's order on day one. On defensive, Mitchell brings enough athleticism to the table to strength the Wolves in the outfield as well.
OUTLOOK
STRENGTHS: This team views their senior leadership and high-end pitching, as well as depth, as their biggest strong suits.
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: “Our weakness is we just haven't got to play together very long. We have six returners but they only played four games last year together.”
