'Productive' Ciccantelli Has Two-Way Potential

STOW - Times have changed since Patrick Ciccantelli was 13 years.of age.

“I was 5-7, 205 pounds,” reflected Ciccantelli. “Then I kind of got a will to want to go do it. I credit that to my parents and grandparents. I went to a course at Premier Sports Conditioning that pushed me into shape and I took off and ran with it.”

It has made playing high-level college baseball a strong likelihood for the 5-11, 185-pound Stow junior.

“Ever since I was 10 and watched the College World Series I’ve wanted to play college baseball,” Ciccantelli said. “I knew I was good back then, and that it was the sport I wanted to play. I just loved the atmosphere around it.

“Then I dropped the weight after my 13u season. I already was good, I just wasn’t getting recruited because I was chubby. But I went to the gym and gained a lot of muscle.”

The 45th-rated 2021 in Ohio has continued to make strides ever since.

“I’ve been working with a strength and conditioning coach and I’ve gotten a little faster,” Ciccantelli related. “My arm strength has continued to grow since I was 14 and I’m putting the bat on the ball more consistently.”

It has the hard-throwing right-hander being looked at by some as a two-way prospect.

“It depends on the coach,” noted the fourth-ranked junior third baseman in the state. “Some see me as a two-way to get my bat in the lineup. Not many are looking at me as a pitcher only and I mostly prefer infield. But I’d like to be a two-way player.”

Jordan Chiero, PBR Ohio Director of Scouting, sees Ciccantelli with the potential to do both pitch and play in the field.
