Preseason Hudson Valley: Top Performers
March 13, 2020
The 2020 Preseason All-State - Hudson Valley event took place on Saturday Feb 15th at Sullivan County Community College. These are some of the players that caught our attention with their performances along with top statistical leaders.
Top Performers
Jacob Yager 1B / RHP / Tri-Valley, NY / 2021This athletic 6-foot-3, 230 pound physical frame wasn't afraid to show out in multiple categories during this event. Jacob placed Top 3 in Exit Velo, INF Velo, and to top it off FB Velo. Not only can he launch the ball with some serious force, but he has positive presence on the mound. He has a good hard fastball that just rides through the zone and good feel for his secondary pitches. Jacob is someone to keep an eye on as a dual player going forward.

Evan Dieter OF / LHP / Kingston, NY / 2022From almost a year apart between events, Evan has improved tremendously showing out in a couple categories. His 60 yard dash time improved from a 7.10 to a 6.86 even with growing a couple more inches and adding some weight. Speed isn't the only tool Evan has to offer, he also shows smooth fielding mechanics in the OF and has a strong coming in with an 82mph velo. Still someone to follow as he keeps progressing.

Jack Clifford C / RHP / Newburgh Free Academy, NY / 2021This 2021 catcher still has plenty of room to fill out, but his quick footwork and actions behind the plate make his very special for the class of 2021. Jack was anywhere from a 1.97-1.99 pop time in this showcase notching the top spot for that category. Along with a sub-2.00 pop time he was able to get some velocity behind the ball with a 77mph catcher velo. Showing his quickness and good arm behind the plate is why he was a Top Performer for this event.

Josh Russo 1B / RHP / Ward Melville , NY / 2021Josh is a very strong, physical framed individual and he was not afraid to show that off on the hitting portion of this event. Crushing baseballs all over the field with exceptional pop he had the Top Exit Velo from this event with a 96mph. Smooth swing with quick hands that are able to get in the zone fast made for an exciting BP round. On the mound he is a big presence, really working downhill and getting that body into his FB. Josh finished with the highest FB Velo of the day at 86mph.
