Preseason CNY: Top Performers
March 25, 2020
The 2020 Preseason All-State - Central NY event took place on Tuesday Feb 18th at Accelerate Sports. Here's a look at a couple players that caught our attention with their performances, along with top statistical leaders from the event.
Roman Kimball RHP / SS / New Hartford, NY / 2021The Notre Dame commit had a very impressive bullpen during this event topping out at 91mph. His very repeatable delivery and smooth arm action makes it easy to show that there is more in the tank as he develops. Kimball has a four pitch mix with command and good feel for the off-speed, running both sides of the plate. |
Daniel Barbero SS / 2B / Colonie, NY / 2022Standing 5 foot 8, 180-pounds, and a 2022 graduate, he has a great set of tools. Barbero has a loose swing and explosive usage of his lower half to mash the baseball (96 Exit Velo). His simple swing makes it very repeatable for consistent, hard contact to the pull side gap. Hitting isn't the only thing he impressed us with, his arm speaks for itself throwing 88mph across the diamond. Smooth footwork combined with exceptional glove work makes him a must follow as he progresses even more.

Luis Suarez C / 1B / West Genesee, NY / 2022Squarez took our top catcher spot being the first in two different categories, Catcher Pop Time (1.95-2.01) and Catcher Velo (77mph). Consistent bullets on the bag making accuracy look easy, quick transfer, and good footwork are just a couple reasons to keep an eye on this 2022.
|
Dillon Crook OF / 2B / Liverpool , NY / 2021Hard out the gate, staying low, and light on his feet earned him our fastest 60 yard dash time at the CNY event. An impressive 6.57 runner uses his short strides to his advantage getting his feet off the ground as quick as possible. Also, top 3 in OF Velo, Crook keeps his throws low on a line towards his target creating good backspin.
