On Deck Preview: Preseason All-State - WNY

As we kick off our Preseason All-State tour this weekend, we highlight some returning players that we are excited to see the results from an off season of training.

Michael Bowler RHP / OF / Geneva, NY / 2021Rankings StateRank: 110 / POS: 34
Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance and slightly open. Short simple load actions. Bowler displayed his quick hands through the zone during the batting practice portion. Defensively- the outfielder has an aggressive approach to the baseball. Stays under control. Smooth exchange to a quick release from a high 3/4 arm slot. Bowler has a projectable frame and is a must follow. |

Christian Cabrera OF / 2B / Canisius, NY / 2021Rankings StateRank: 174 / POS: 25
At the plate, the right handed hitter stands in the box in a wide athletic stance with a slight bend in the knees. The 2021 graduate sprayed the ball all over the field during his batting practice round at the Last Chance Event. Defensively, the 2021 graduate worked out in the outfield. Displayed an aggressive approach to the baseball. Fields the baseball slightly off center. Works with a quick exchange to quick release from a high 3/4 arm slot. |

Keenan Calenzo SS / 2B / Eastridge, NY / 2021Rankings StateRank: 151 / POS: 26
A lean 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. Ran a 7.12 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box with an open stance. Simple load, quick hands into the hitting zone. Gets good use of the lower half through the point of contact. Consistent contact to the middle of the field during the hitting portion. Balanced throughout the swing. Exit velocity was 75 MPH. Defensively- Solid infield actions. Displayed soft hands, slightly upright on the ball right at him. Above average exchange to a quick release across the diamond. Top velocity on the day was 80 MPH. |

Joshua Milleville RHP / SS / Starpoint , NY / 2021mazz_Rankings StateRank: 92 / POS: 28
An athletic build at 5-foot-9,155 pounds. Ran a 7.32 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Starts in a wide stance, slightly open. Slight bend in the knees. Has a short simple load. Has a quick direct path to the baseball. Keeps his hands close to the body. Gets full extension after the point of contact. Stays balanced throughout the hitting zone. Top exit velocity was 93 MPH. Defensively- Has an aggressive approach to the baseball. Stays balanced and under control when fielding the baseball. Shows above average funnel actions. Has a smooth transition from a high ¾ arm slot. Moves well laterally. Top throwing velocity was 78 MPH. Pitching- The RHP displayed a repeatable balanced delivery with tempo. Has smooth hand separation before getting into a balanced back side and driving downhill. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Showed plus FB command with some downward action and peaked at 82 MPH. CB has sharp late break ranging from 64-66 MPH. |

Maxx Yehl LHP / 1B / St. Francis, NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 2
A projectable lean long frame at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. Pitching- the left handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and projectable live arm. The big LHP throws from a loose mid ¾ arm slot. FB has late life. CB has sharp late break down in the zone. Displayed feel for a CH with late fade. The 2022 LHP is a must follow as he continues to develop.
