Recent Showcase History
CNY ASG (September 30, 2018)
Mature, developed frame at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds. Offensively – Narrow stance, very upright to start with front side open to the pitcher. Squares up with balanced forward stride. Hands stay back at landing. Quick wrists with noticeable strength in his hands. Swing showed consistent lift on the ball. Remains balanced throughout finish. Potential to hit for more power in the future. Defensively – Low, balanced set-up behind the plate. Uses strong lower half to get out of crouch quickly. Shows good direction with feet on throws to 2B. Short, compact arm action with loose finish. Projectable defensive actions.
What to Expect
"Carullo is a 2020 physical 5-foot-10, 190 pound catcher. Carullo showcased his power in BP at the PBR CNY All Star games last September. The 10th rank catcher will be a middle of the order contributor as he becomes more consistent. Behind the plate he peaked with 2.04 pop time during last year’s workouts. Huge upside with the bat and we expect things to be event more polished behind the dish going forward. Excited to see Carullo at next month’s Preseason Long Island/NYC Trial.
Player Comparison
*Note: A new feature added to our On Deck Preview. Many times coaches will ask our staff "Who does he remind you of?" Player "comps" are a popular tool in the scouting/recruiting world and we have decided to add that niche.
