Offensive Onslaught Surges Gloucester Catholic Past Bergen Catholic
April 27, 2019
Gloucester Catholic needed just five innings to complete a convincing mercy-rule victory over Bergen Catholic on Saturday, 18-5.
The Rams' offense pounded out 18 hits in 5 innings, sending 9, 9, and 8 to the plate through the first three complete innings. 6 Gloucester Catholic hitters had at least two hits, with hitters 2-4 in the lineup collecting three knocks each.
In the top of the first with one out, SS Ryan Nutley (La Salle recruit) walked and Florida State recruit Lilo Paxia singled. Rider recruit Luke Lesch walked to load the bases. Tyler Cannon then singled to drive in Nutley for the game's first run, and G.C. never looked back.
Luke Lesch went the distance in a 5-inning complete game.
Gloucester Catholic takes on perennial South Jersey Powerhouse and rival St. Augustine tomorrow at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Mainland High School at 2pm.
