Scouting Director, New Jersey
Here are a few NJ names from Day 3 of the WWBA Fort Myers Underclass Tournament that caught the eye of the scouting staff:
+ Billy Price, LHP, Delbarton HS, NJ, 2018 (Virginia commit)
Price has a tall, lanky build at 6-foot-6 180-pounds. The Virginia commit sat 82-84 with FB from high-3/4 slot with 65-66 mph 1/7 breaking ball. Tall/fall type of pitcher, gets good downhill action on fastball. Mechanics look clean and arm is loose. Falls to third base side of mound on finish. Up tempo delivery gives him some rhythm. Quick arm, recoils on finish.
+ Jared Bellisimo, LHP, Toms River North HS, NJ 2018 (Rutgers commit)
Bellisimo has a big bodied build at 6-foot-1 210-pounds. Sat 81-82 for most of his outing, but got up to 83-84 occasionally. Breaking ball had small 1/7 break at 71-72. 3/4 slot, arm action is clean. Delivery is slow and methodical. Workman-like effort on the mound, went two innings, struck out four, gave up two hits. Advanced in fastball command in the zone. Can work in/out & up/down effortlessly.
+ Robert Gallagher, INF, Clearview Regional HS, NJ 2018 (UMass-Lowell commit)
Gallagher has an athletic build at 5-foot-8 150-pounds. LHH infielder with advanced baseball actions in the field. Played primarily 3B but moved to SS in some games. Can play anywhere in the infield. Still has some growing to do, but another player from All Out Baseball that plays 100% all the time.
+ Bradley Brush, RHP/MIF, Toms River East HS, NJ, 2018 (uncommitted)
Brush has a physical 6-foot-2 185-pound frame. Sat 81-83 but got fastball up to 84-85 and touched 87. Low-3/4 slot produces heavy sink and run. Breaking ball has small depth. Changeup looked to be the better of the two offspeed pitches at 75 mph with armside fade. Offensively- tall strong looking stance, hands high above shoulder. Uses a small stride to start load.
+ Jason Bobiak, OF, Gloucester Catholic HS, NJ, 2018 (uncommitted)
Bobiak has an athletic build at 6-foot 175-pounds. Spark plug type of player, Bobiak brings energy to the baseball field whether it is going first to third on a routine single, or stretching a single into a double. Had three hits in ten at bats this weekend, driving in two, including a sac fly on Saturday to deep right center field.
