The 12th annual Future Games took place on July 26-29 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2025 and 2026 participated in one of the most popular events of the year.

There were 32 teams, including Team Massachusetts, with players representing 44 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players were put through a showcase workout on Wednesday. More than 375 college coaches from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.

Massachusetts went 1-1-1, defeating Team New York on Thursday, tying Team Canada on Friday, while losing to Team Connecticut on Saturday.

EMERSON, Ga. - The Future Games just keep getting better and better.

The Prep Baseball Report event that initially began in 2011 continues to draw more interest from college coaches, with a record 375 in attendance this year to watch 32 teams with players from 44 states and four Canadian provinces.

“The coaches are what stood out to me, 375 college coaches paid a visit to see the finest uncommitted underclassmen in the country,” related Shooter Hunt, vice president of scouting for PBR. “With the NCAA rule changes in effect, it was astounding seeing some of the premier programs in the country bringing FOUR coaches to cover the event. I think that more than quantifies the significance and importance of the event from the recruiting side. It was a true one-stop-shop.”

For the second year in a row, the schedules for each team featured different opponents from previous years at the Future Games.

“We are constantly reevaluating the process and trying to keep things fresh,” explained Hunt. “A significant amount of time goes into cultivating the scheduling of workout day and game schedule, and I don't think anything is off the table for 2024 including a potential lottery ball drawing … but I also understand the importance of rivalry games and wouldn't be surprised to see rivalries like the Ohio-Michigan battle back on the board for ’24.”

Massachusetts, which had regularly faced Connecticut at the Future Games until a year ago, picked up a win over New York and tied Canada while losing to their rival, Team Connecticut, on the final day of the event.

“I love playing Connecticut each year,” noted PBR Massachusetts Scouting Director Dennis Healy. “A Saturday rivalry day is a great idea. It is fun for us because a lot of these kids know each other.”

As for how Team Massachusetts showed at the event, Healy had good things to say.

“My team played well,” Healy said. “The pitching was excellent, and for the most part we threw strikes and controlled the sequences. The team defense was outstanding as well. Offensively, I thought we struggled, trying to do too much at the plate. I really like the club, and they should be proud of the way they played.”

Healy was also happy to have participated in the Junior Future Games.

“Our Junior Futures team competed hard and enjoyed the experience,” Healy said.

Hunt saw a lot to like in the teams from the northeast corner of the U.S.

“The two New England squads, Connecticut and Massachusetts, fielded some of their best squads of all time,” Hunt said. “They really set the tone for the event in the first time slot during the workout day, and had a lot of college coaches trying to sneak over for looks without giving away how much they liked certain guys.”

The new rule regarding contact between college coaches and players not being permitted until Aug. 1 was seen as a positive.

“I like the idea of the rule a lot,” Hunt explained. “Allowing the coaches to evaluate over a longer period will hopefully lead to better decisions and less need for the Transfer Portal. You cannot blame the coaches for the ‘arms race’ that the recruiting world had become where recruiting quantity held a quality on its own. However, now, with the luxury of time to evaluate, look for the process to be slowed down a bit. I see the Future Games playing an even more pivotal part in the process given its massive number of uncommitted players who have been evaluated by trusted PBR state directors and scouts.”

The Junior Future Games, featuring mostly 2027 and 2028 players, is also affected by the new rule which does not permit coaches to talk with players until Aug. 1 heading into junior year of high school.

“As for the Junior Future Games, the ability to get more looks in front of college coaches, or their trusted PBR sources, is of massive importance because while the recruiting process has been slowed down, the need for recruiters to ‘hit the ground running’ has sped up,” Hunt said. “Being added to a list as a follow helps college programs once they turn the page to each new class.”

Healy is a fan of the rule change.

“I don't mind the rule change,”Healy said. “Kids will always find out through a third party if there is interest.”

The Massachusetts scouting director believes that interest will be high when it comes to this year’s squad featuring players from Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Maine in addition to Massachusetts.

“I have heard from college coaches asking about the players, but I’ll let the players keep that to themselves as they navigate the process of choosing a school,” Healy said. “There has been a bunch of interest this year.”

A PBR thank you to all that participated and a special thanks to the players on Team Massachusetts that gave their thoughts about the event (including what schools have been in contact with them since Aug. 1):

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were the atmosphere at the two games I was at. It was wonderful to see great baseball players from around the country compete to the best of their abilities and leave everything they have on the field.

PBR: Assess your performance.
My own performance went pretty well. In the first inning I struggled but that happens when you allow base runners. In the dugout I sat down and just realized it’s just a game and that I'm here for a reason. The next inning rolled a ground ball and 2 Ks to end the outing.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Being on Team Mass meant a lot because I know how many kids tried and wanted to be on this team. I worked very hard over the past few months to get there.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition at the event was the best competition in the country. You had the best uncommitted 2025 and elite 2026s in the entire country battling not only to win your pool and win games but to get noticed by the hundreds of scouts at every game.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Since the end of the Future Games I’ve been in talk with a few schools - UMass, UMBC, St. John’s.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I only pitched in two innings of the third game, so I didn’t have many highlights.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I pitched ok, but not as well as I wanted to. I let up one hit, but only had one strikeout, so it was kind of like I was just pitching to contact.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
I liked playing for Massachusetts, even if it only was for two innings in the last game. But It’s really cool to be surrounded by lots of talented players.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition I faced was similar to that of a high-level high school team. There were lots of kids throwing hard, and lots of kids hitting hard. It was very hard to strike kids out, which I realized very early.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Playing in the Future Games can help me get on the radar of some coaches who are interested in my kind of player. It also helps me figure out where I need to be and what I need to focus on skill wise so that I can be at the elite level of competition.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
I have been in contact with Trinity and Fordham and I received emails from Ohio State, UConn and Duke.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were definitely seeing all of the competition and great players around the whole country and getting to meet some of them and play against them. I also loved playing at Lakepoint. I have always wished to play there since it is such a beautiful complex.

PBR: Assess your performance.
My performance wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst. I threw a lot of strikes and showed out my stuff, but it just didn’t go the right way for me. I still had fun and enjoyed my time on the mound.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Since I am from CT, being on team Mass was a little different going into it knowing I didn’t know anybody. But I found it very easy how well that we got along and created a huge bond throughout the whole team during these few days at Lakepoint.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition we faced was great. Pitching was on point with a lot of special arms and the bats were there hitting pitches I would never see back home. I was especially amazed by Team Canada. They were very good and didn’t have a weak point in any of their games.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
I think participating in the Future Games can help you in the future by getting used to playing in front of all those college coaches. When I first got there, I couldn’t even get to my field without weaving in between scouts. But becoming comfortable in front of them is a huge part for your future so you can show them your game while being comfortable.

Cole Mullen RHP / 3B / North Andover, MA / 2025

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were definitely making new friends with my team, and other teams. It was very cool to see kids from different states, and even Canada.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I thought my performance went well. I hit a new PR at 89 mph on the mound and I let up one unearned run in three innings pitched.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Being part of Team Mass was very fun because the other kids on the team were easy to talk to and were extremely friendly to each other.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition I faced in this event was the best I ever have gone up against. Playing good competition only helps you get better and I fully believe that.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Future Games will help me get a ton of exposure to the 300+ coaches that were there. Also, I was able to learn some tips from my teammates when we were talking that will help me in the future.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
I am currently in contact with Northeastern, Bryant, UMass Amherst, UConn, Maine, and a few others.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
Striking out the last batter of my outing. Being able to experience going to LakePoint and playing for Team Massachusetts was a highlight itself.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I felt I did solid, pitched a good outing.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Super surreal experience. Had a ton of fun in just the one game I played.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition we faced was really solid. It's the best of each state/area that those kids are from. They pick the best to play, so you face the best competition possible.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
I think by being able to play in the Future Games it gives me an upper hand, having all of the coaches attend and being able to see me play and see what I can do in real time. It just overall helps being able to play at the next level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
UConn and Ohio State

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlight was throwing 89 mph off the mound which is a new personal record. Also hitting 100 mph during the showcase workout.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I was happy with my pitching performance but know that I could do better at the plate.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
The talent on the roster stood out. It was also good to meet some players I've competed against in the past.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
Very good competition in every aspect of the game.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
It gets you a lot of college exposure in a very competitive, pressured environment.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
Playing at the PBR Future Games was a great opportunity. Some of my highlights were defensive plays behind the plate for Team Mass and my on-field batting practice rounds.

PBR: Assess your performance.
My offensive performance was definitely not on par of how I usually perform, however my defense was solid. On a scale of 1-10 I’d rate my performance at the Future Games a 6. I didn’t get a hit but I walked and still made hard solid contact.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Playing for Team Mass was an amazing experience. The guys were all super friendly and made the dugout feel like home, which helped us play loose and have fun.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition I faced was elite. Pitching for the other teams was stellar, mostly 85-90 off the mound with amazing breaking pitches. The defense made it tough to get a hit even with good contact.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
For me, playing at the PBR Future Games could help players, including myself, see where they need to be to play at the next level with other kids my age. This helps me in the future because it serves as a humble reminder to keep working hard, because there is always a higher level to play at.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Since the event I’ve received texts or emails from staff or coaches at Northeastern, George Mason, and Ohio State.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I was so grateful to be able to go represent my state along with kids that I play with/against was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. My favorite part of the Future Games was to be able to play under the lights against Team Canada. It was a hard fought game and something that I will remember for the rest of my life.

PBR: Assess your performance.
My approach going into the games was to showcase my abilities as a baseball player. One of the things that I work really hard on is to be able to hit balls hard and to all parts of the field. I was blessed to be able to showcase some of this ability by going 3-6 in the tournament with a wall-ball double and triple to the opposite-field gap. I am beyond happy with my performance and couldn’t have asked for a better team to compete with.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Like I said earlier, being able to represent your community and where you’re from is an honor. Every time you put on that uniform you are representing not only the kids on your team, but also all the kids back home that would do anything to be in your shoes. Hopefully we showed the rest of the country that the northeast can ball and that the Massachusetts boys can hang with any other part of the country.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
Being able to play against New York, Connecticut, and Canada was awesome. The Boston-New York rivalry is one of the greatest rivalries in sports and I'm glad we could win one for Mass. Playing against Canada was really cool because they were representing an entire country and we were only a state so they had a lot of guys that could really play ball and it was a hard fight with both teams trying to win every pitch. Playing against Connecticut at the end was also an awesome experience because we all play against and know some of the guys on the team. Overall the competition was top notch and could not have asked for a better representation of what Massachusetts baseball is from my teammates.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Playing in these games can single-handedly give you an opportunity to play baseball at the next level. It gives you an opportunity to get recruited by schools that you could potentially never have gotten the chance to play in front of without these games. Living in Mass, we only get to play baseball for sixish months of the year outside due to weather, so it is hard to get recruited by some schools that can watch kids play virtually year ’round. These games provide an opportunity for you to be seen and give yourself a shot to play at the next level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Northeastern, University of Virginia, Elon, Boston College, George Mason, UMass Amherst, USC Upstate.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights from the Future Games were walking four times in the three games.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I played solid over three games, clean definitely and good at-bats at the plate.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
The thing that stood out about Team Massachusetts was meeting a bunch of new kids I had never played with.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition from the event was some of the better competition I have played against in the 2025 class.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
The Future Games overall helps with exposure to college coaches that you would never play in front of at home.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Villanova, George Washington, Maine, San Francisco, Northeastern.

Max Andrews SS / Kennebunk High School, ME / 2025

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights were just being a part of it, and getting to play in front of coaches I never thought I’d see. Getting this experience and exposure was what I think everyone came for, at least for me it was. For me just being able to get a hit and make some plays in front of all these coaches, that was my highlight.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I had my best showcase of the summer, hitting a new best in exit velo, and running my fastest 60 on laser timing. I thought in-game I could’ve played better and been more productive at the plate. I missed some pitches I should’ve hit but other than that I wouldn’t have changed much. I made my plays in the field and had good at-bats, and that’s all I could really ask for at an event like that.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Being the only one from Maine, it was great. I was welcomed by everyone and felt like I fit in well. The guys were great, and it was crazy playing on such a good team. Everyone got along and that made the experience 10 times better. Also, coach Healy was great. He’s a fun guy to be around and knows his stuff when it comes to baseball. So overall I loved being a part of Team Massachusetts.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was the best I’d seen all summer. Everyone there was throwing over 86 and up to 92. Those were the hardest at-bats of the summer, and by far the best players I’ve seen all summer. It was great competition, which added to the experience and made the games more exciting. It was great to be a part of that competitive environment. Overall the competition was elite and the best I’ve seen all summer.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
This event was loaded with scouts and I’m hoping I was able to get the attention of just one and be given the chance to play at the next level. I think if I do play at the next level this event will be a big reason why that happens. I think if you are given the chance to play here it’s a no-brainer. This is one of the best events in the country and I think it will help get a lot of kids to the next level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Penn State, Northeastern, Old Dominion, Maine, Bryant, UMass, Stonybrook, Bucknell, Villanova, Holy Cross, USC Upstate, St. John’s, George Mason and emails from Columbia, Ohio State and UConn.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights of the Future Games were meeting new players on the team, being able to represent Massachusetts along with being in the position to play against some of the best players in the country of my class.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I was happy with my performance, especially with the level of competition. I went 3-3 with 2 doubles, a single and 4 walks.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Being able to be a part of Team Massachusetts was an awesome experience because I got to see how different players work on the field and what their approach is.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was definitely the best of the best, many very good hitters and lots of pitchers threw very hard.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Future Games can help me in the future to be ready for the higher level of baseball that you would face in college. It also allows you to play in front of a lot of college scouts.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
I heard from several schools on Aug. 1.

Drew Herlin 1B / King Philip, MA / 2025

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
The highlight of the games for me was being able to go out there and have a great time playing a game I love with kids from all over the area and seeing some people that I had faced over the years again.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I didn’t have the greatest performance I believe I could have had, but I was still able to contribute to the team with an RBI and being able to move people in big situations. So overall not the best but it could have gone a lot worse.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
It was great to be a part of the team and be recognized as a good enough player to put on the jersey for Team Mass. Also with that, the team was great with lots of energy and being able to get together quickly to play our best baseball.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
There was some great competition we faced with the pitchers that we faced really being some of the best that I personally have faced all year. Most of the pitches I faced were up to and sitting around 90 mph.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
The Future Games allowed me to see the best competition around, allowing me to see how much I have to elevate my game to do well against the best around. It also helps with the future with the amount of people and coaches that are able to see us play, allowing us to have looks that we might not have gotten at any other events.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
I have received a couple of emails from local colleges and others about seeing me at the Games and wanting to follow up with me in the future.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I loved the showcase day because all eyes are on you. Hitting a home run there was a Top 5 moment for me in baseball.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I didn’t do the best to my ability in my at-bats but I turned it around in the end and left happy.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
I’m from New Hampshire so representing Team Mass may not have been as special to me as it was to others, but I have family from Massachusetts who were proud of me to represent them.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The event lived up to the hype. It was truly the best uncommitted kids from each region all having talent.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Future Games can help me remember how fun baseball is supposed to be.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
I have been in contact with multiple high D-I schools since the event ended, Vanderbilt, Duke, NC State, Penn State, South Carolina etc.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were meeting all my new teammates, and playing in front of that many scouts.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I did well defensively, and had a few quality at-bats although I could've done a bit better at the plate.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
It was a great experience and I felt like I built a relationship with a few of my teammates. It was my first time meeting a lot of guys from around the state. The coaches also let you play freely while putting you in positions to succeed in front of the scouts. The photography/media team was also really nice.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
It’s always fun playing against guys that play at a high level. Canada pitching was pretty impressive

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Not only did playing in the Future Games help me notice what things I need to focus on in my game, but it also made me realize that I can play at that level and excel at it if I make adjustments. I believe the mental and physical changes this event will cause me to make will help me greatly in the future.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Xavier, Ohio State, UConn.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?

Being a part of Team Massachusetts was a blast. All of the guys were competitors and fun to be around.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
We faced very good pitching all tournament and overall it was good competition.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Future Games was a great way for me to get exposure as there were a bunch of scouts at every game you played. There was always a different college at each game, so it was a great way to showcase what you could do in front of different schools.

Jack Murray SS / OF / Noble and Greenough, MA / 2026

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights of the Future Games were that I was able to compete in front of a ton of coaches while also battling against the top players my age around the country.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I feel that I didn’t showcase myself to my highest ability, but overall played well.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
Being on Team Mass was a great time. I made new friends for the future and got to be teammates with players I would maybe never run into in a tournament setting.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition I played against was top tier, very good arms and bats up and down the lineups.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Although I am class of 2026, participating in the Future Games allowed the coaches to see what I can do and maybe put me on their list as a possible player in the future. The games also allowed me to see certain skills about myself that need a little fixing when playing at a high level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Being a 2026 and the new rules, I have not been in contact with any school after the Future Games.

The Outfielders

Liam Daly SS / RHP / Worcester Academy, MA / 2025

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I had a line drive barrel up the middle for a base hit against New York, and I also stole a base.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I think I tried to make the most out of my six at-bats since it can be tough to assess a player based on only that many at-bats. Overall I could have done better, but I was happy with some parts of my game throughout the tournament.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
I loved playing with some kids on the team that I already know and have played with, it honestly took a little pressure off with all of the college coaches watching. Our pitching vs New York and Canada was fantastic.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition at the event I thought was strong. Multiple pitchers we faced were throwing low-90s, and the pace of play was fast which I loved.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Futures Games will 100 percent help you in the future because of the exposure you get from the college coaches. Any school I could think of was at the games, and to showcase your skills while also playing highly-competitive games in front of all these schools is great if you want to play baseball at the next level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches have you been in contact with since the event ended and the Aug. 1 deadline has been reached?
Ever since coming back from the Future Games and the Aug. 1 deadline being reached, I have already had three calls with three separate D-I college coaches.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
Being able to compete against the best players from different areas, and having good moments on the field and with my teammates.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I was pretty happy with my performance, I was able to find my way on base and was able to advance on the basepaths. I also played well in the outfield.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Massachusetts and what stood out.
I really enjoyed being on Team Massachusetts. All of my teammates were very good guys to be with and we were able to create good friendships.
