Future Games: Team NC Workout Day Quick Hits

Brandon Hall
NC / Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball is hosting the next edition of its prestigious Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Ga., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent. And, for the first time ever, the Future Games is hosting not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who will participate in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing grad classes 2025, 2026, and 2028 will be participating in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Today we take a look at some of the top performances from workout day, from within Team NC.  Several players put up eye popping numbers.  North Carolina was well represented atop the national leader boards with their day at LakePoint..

TEAM NORTH CAROLINA WORKOUT DAY

National Leaders

Several NC names graced the national leader boards after their workout performances.  Below are some of the names that drew attention with tools that separated them early from other top talent across the country

Riley Cuddy OF / RHP / GRACE Christian, NC / 2026

Cuddy announced his presence with authority.  His max exit velocity of 109 and average exit velocity of 104, each led the entire event in their respective categories. The BP was loud and aggressive, seeking attention with each swing.  A solid athlete Cuddy ran a 7.04 with an outfield arm velocity at 90mph.

Landon Church 2B / OF / West Forsyth, NC / 2026

We expected Landon Church to run... and he did.  The INF/OF posted a 6.49 on the Swift Laser Timing System.  Along with his speed, Church showed an ability to drive the baseball with an exit velocity that peaked at 95.5mph.

Jacob Cesarz SS / 2B / Cary Christian, NC / 2026

Pushing Church, Cesarz ran as the first infielder in his group, posting a 6.56 time on the laser.  While his extremely quick, it is the pace that he plays with on a day to day basis that can create havoc and an atmosphere his teammates have to try to match.

Chase Kiker RHP / 3B / Metrolina Chrisitan Academy, NC / 2026

Kiker is one of the top pitchers in the country, but he is drawing interest from schools as a potential dual prospect.  HIs ability on the mound will lead his prospect status, but he showed well on the workout day with the position players.  His INF velocity of 92mph put him on the leaderboard, while he admittedly was taking it a bit easy as Team NC finished in a steady rain on defense.

Ryan Engle OF / LHP / Westchester Country Day, NC / 2026

Another dual prospect on Team NC, Engle drew eyes with his frame and swing.  He has a big arm on the mound from the left side and he was able to show that off during the OF Workout, getting up to 93mph to land with the 2nd best velocity in the event.

A Little Bit of Everything

Brady Marconi C / Ardery Kell High School, NC / 2026

Marconi is known in the region for his big arm behind the dish. That aspect did not disappoint turning in a 1.87 pop with an 80mph arm from the crouch. The bat did big things, showing consistent pop with a top end exit velocity of 96.1.

Harrison Ailshie OF / LHP / East Rowan , NC / 2026

Quickly becoming a name that is known as one of the top hitters in the 2025 class, Ailshie took a professional manner to his BP, showing excellent barrel feel and power to both gaps.

Addison Rowland C / SS / palisades high school, SC / 2026

Coaches love options with players and Rowland has high end talent behind the dish and displayed an ability to play on the infield as well.  Athletic with bounce and hand strength, he posted a 1.90 pop and a 97.1 max exit velocity.

Maximus Wearing 1B / 3B / Palisades, NC / 2026

Big frame with a young face and tremendous power off the barrel. Wearing catches the eye with his size and sweet left-handed path. He also showed nimble feet and soft hands around the bag.

Xander Sutton C / 3B / GASTON CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, NC / 2026

Sutton packed the stat sheet on workout day with a solid round of BP and impressive skills behind the dish. An athletic catcher, he also showed feel for playing on the infield, giving future coaches some options on how to get him in the lineup.

Cole Blevins OF / RHP / West Rowan High, NC / 2026

Blevins can roll the pole.  There is bat speed, balance, and excellent feel for the barrel.  The left handed hitter caught eyes throughout his two rounds at LakePoint.

Today was a Good Day

Preston Smith 3B / RHP / Hoggard, NC / 2026

Smith is long and athletic. The workout day allowed him to show there is strength in the swing and athleticism in the field. For a long frame there is excellent bend in the hips and above average hand-eye coordination in the box.

Hodge Williams C / RHP / Holly Springs, NC / 2026

Williams checks a ton of boxes when he gets on the field. The right handed hitting backstop showed strength in a professional approach to his two rounds of BP. Behind the dish, it is a very quick exchange and release with above average accuracy.

Cason McGinnis SS / 2B / North Lincoln, NC / 2026

Knows as a player with great energy, McGinnis really stands out in game play. During his workout, he did plenty, showing the ability to stay on plane with barrel feel.  Defensively the hands, feet, and ability to make any throw stood out.

Tanner Pope 1B / LHP / Garner High, NC / 2026

Physical presence from the left side of the box, Pope has the chance to do damage on every swing. While the swing will be his ticket, his feet are very nimble around the bag and he flashed the ability to move laterally with some ease.

Colton Haire RHP / OF / Pro5 Baseball Academy, NC / 2026

Haire will make his way as a pitcher first but he gives coaches something to think about in the box, showing off skills from both sides of the box in BP.  There is strength at the point of contact and his future school may see an arm that could produce some quick runs in the near future.
