Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the STL Force Scout Day on January 25 at the STL Force training facility, Champions Village, in Fenton, MO. Fourty players attended the event, with the majority of players in the 2023 and 2024 classes.

Today, we will take a look at the pitchers from the day, many from a talented 2024 class.  Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. Players listed below are in alphabetical order.

Pitchers

Logan Cowick 3B / RHP / Fort Zumwalt West, MO / 2024 Cowick is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class. On the mound, over the top release, works in line down the mound, controlled to balance point, fastball at 65-68 mph, breaking ball with gradual break at 51-55 mph 11 to 5 action, change up at 58-62 mph, near fastball arm speed, slight sink.

Chase DeQuasie SS / RHP / Columbia, IL / 2024 DeQuasie is a 5-foot-6 130-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2024 class.  On the mound, high leg lift with control, slight tuck at top of lift, in line stride, over the top arm slot, fastball at 65-69 mph, some with arm side run, curveball at 61-62 mph, slight 12 to 6 acton, change up at 57-59 mph, slight sinking action.

Jacob Frost 1B / LHP / Oakville , MO / 2021 Frost is a 6-foot-2 210-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class.  On the mound, high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, throws with regular effort, lands in line, simple and repeatable delivery, fastball showed two-seam run, 81-84 mph, breaking ball has 2-to-8 action, late at times, 71-75 mph, change up at 70-74 mph, late arm side action.

Maloy Heaghney SS / 2B / Eureka , MO / 2023 Heagney is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2023 class.  On the mound, over the arm slot, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort at release, repeats delivery, fastball at 75-77 mph, straight,  breaking ball at 64-65 mph, 66-69 mph 12-to-6 action, change up, some arm side movement, near fastball arm speed

Caleb Heck C / SS / Columbia, IL / 2024 Heck is a 5-foot-4 133-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2024 class.  On the mound, holds hands high, rotates slightly at top of leg lift, lands closed with crossfire release, high three quarters arms lot, two-seam fastball at 68-71 mph, 61-63 mph curvball, slurve type 10-to-5 action, change up at 66-68 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed.

Kade Heinemeier RHP / OF / Seckman, MO / 2024 Heinemeier is a 5-foot-5 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, works from 1B side of rubber, loose high three quarters arm slot, clean and simple delivery, throws with some effort, in line stride, works both sides of the plate, fastball at 72-73 mph, 64-66 mph breaking ball, 67-69 mph change up gradual 12-to-6 action, moves slightly arm side.

Bryson Kline C / RHP / Troy , MO / 2024 Kline is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, high three quarters arm slot, in line down the mound, accelerates through release for fastball, arm works, fastball at 79-82 mph, 62-64 mph breaking ball, late action at times, 11-to-5 action, change up showed slight arm side sink, 63-64 mph, more in tank with arm action and build.

Aiden Masidonski LHP / 1B / Columbia , IL / 2024 Masidonski is a 5-foot-11 137-pound left-handed pitcher in Illinois' 2024 class.  On the mound, works with an over the top release, slight pause and change of direction at top of balance point, in line stride, aggressive down the mound, works downhill, fastball at 72-74 mph, 62-69 mph breaking ball, 67-68 mph change up.

Jake Mcghee 1B / LHP / CBC, MO / 2024 McGhee is a 5-foot-5 135-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, over the top arm slot, smooth tempo, throws with regular effort, strike thrower, repeats delivery, fastball at 74-76 mph, curveball at 61-64 mph, has feel, 12-to-6 action, lower high three quarters arm slot, 65-68 mph slider, 2-to-8 action, cutter at 72-73 mph, slight sinking action.

Connor Mendell C / 2B / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2024 Mendell is a 5-foot-8 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, clean over the top arm slot, repeats well, has feel for there three pitches, lands slightly closed, stays under control throwing with regular effort, 70-72 mph fastball, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, flashes sharpness 59-62 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed down in zone, 60-61 mph.

Drake Myers LHP / 1B / Eureka, MO / 2021 Myers is a 6-foot-1 170-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, holds hands high before break, high knee lift with slight tuck, lands in line and throws with regular effort, over the top arm slot, fastball at 75-78 mph, breaking ball 67-68 mph, 2-to-8 break, occasionally sharp and late, change up at 75-76 mph, slight arm side run, showed command.

Brysen Nepute OF / LHP / CBC, MO / 2023 Nepute is a physical 5-foot-10 182-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2023 class.  On the mound, smooth acceleration down the mound, controlled to leg lift, over the top arm slot, in line stride, showed arm strength with fastball at 83-85 mph, some with two-seam action, breaking ball at 70-72 mph, mostly 12-to-6 action but would show some 11-to-5 action, change up at 74-77 mph, some with arm side sink.

Avery Oravetz RHP / SS / Lafayette , MO / 2023 Oravets is a 5-foot-8 146-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2023 class.  On the mound, smooth acceleration to release, quick and loose arm action, lands in line, compact, slight tuck at top of balance point, fastball 72-75 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, down in zone, 62-65 mph, change up at 65-68 mph, slight sink, near fastball arm speed.

Lucas Riebeling SS / RHP / Columbia , IL / 2024 Riebling is a 5-foot-4 110-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2024 class.  On the mound, works with regular effort from a high three quarters arm slot, in line stride, lands in fielding position, fastball at 65-68 mph, 57-59 mph breaking ball 12-to-6 shape, change up works down in the zone, 59-62 mph.

Adrian Roberts SS / RHP / Lutheran South, MO / 2022 Roberts is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class.  On the mound, quick tempo with high three quarters release, quick down the mound, loose arm action, fastball at 74-76 mph, breaking ball had late and sharp break at times, 11-to-5 shape, 62-65 mph, change up showed slight sinking action, 70-71 mph.

Jobe Smith SS / RHP / North County, MO / 2023 Smith is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2023 class.  On the mound, over the top release, high leg lift with in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball, 74-75 mph, breaking ball at 66-69 mph, 12-to-6 action, 66-67 mph change up, slight sink.

Max Spillman LHP / 1B / Hillsboro R3, MO / 2024 Spillman is a 5-foot-6 148-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, short over the top release, throws with regular effort, repeats and stays under control down the mound, 63-65 mph fastball, curveball at 56-63 mph, gradual 12-to-6 shape, change up at 62-63 mph down in zone.

Eric Williams 3B / RHP / Fort Zumwalt East, MO / 2024 Williams is a 5-foot-7 177-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, high three quarters arm slot, controlled tempo in delivery, works in line down the mound, throws with regular effort, fastball at 73-75 mph, curveball has gradual 12-to-6 action, 63-64 mph, change up at 62-63 mph, some with slight sink.

Bret Yarger SS / RHP / Rolla , MO / 2024 Yarger is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2024 class.  On the mound, over the top arm slot, deliberate leg lift with acceleration to release, in line stride, works through release, fastball at 71-75 mph, gradual 12-to-6 action on breaking ball, 63-64 mph.

Nazzan Zanetello 3B / RHP / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2023 Zanetello is an athletically built 6-foot-1 162-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2023 class. On the mound, throws with regular effort, smooth tempo with in line stride, controlled leg lift, over the top release, fastball at 76-80 mph, slight run, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, gradual, 59-61 mph, change up has slight arm side sink at times, 68-70 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed.
