Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director
Collin Herdt (Francis Howell Central, 2016) is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed pitcher, who was up to 85 mph at the Class of 2016 Games in St. Louis on June 9. He earned All-Conference honors for his work this spring for the Spartans, and was among the top pitchers in the St. Louis area. He led the Spartans to a 23-9 record, a district championship, and an appearance in the state quaterfinals last spring.
This summer he is playing for the Mizzuno Eagles and carries a 4.2 GPA. Here is a look at the recruiting process for Collin Herdt.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Herdt: I do take my academics seriously. I plan on studying criminal justice while in college. I am looking at a college currently that is no more than 3 hours away from home. I do not want a college that is so large that it is overwhelming, but large enough to be able to be involved.
PBR: Recap your junior season for us at Francis Howell Central. Name some players that played a key role for Francis Howell Central in 2015
Herdt: I was named Honor Mentioned Pitcher for our Conferences. I was the winning pitcher for our GAC Conference Championship, GAC District Championship and GAC Sectional Championship game. My overall record was 8-4. I was ranked in Stlhighschoolsports.com in Overall Pitching Leaders in our conference accordingly: No. 2 in strikeouts, No. 2 in wins, No. 2 in strikeout average, No. 5 of games pitched, No. 2 in complete games, No. 2 innings pitched and No. 1 batters faced. You can also check my other standings on that website in the League Pitching Leaders and overall Area Pitchers.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Herdt: I would like to make first team All-Conference and be part of the All-State Team.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Herdt: I currently play for Mizzuno Eagles and if they have a team in the fall I may play for them. I am also looking into other teams that would need a pitcher in the fall.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Herdt: I don't play any other sports competitively. I do like to play soccer, basketball and table tennis.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Herdt: My ACT is 24 (and I plan on taking it at least 2 more times to hopefully raise my score); my GPA is 4.2.
