The Class 3 State Championship is set and Class 1 is ready to talk center stage at T.R. Hughes in St. Charles today. Here is a look at the week's events at the Missouri State Championship.
Monday, June 1
Class 3
Scott City (20-12) 4, #6 Warsaw 1
Braden Cox (Scott City) improved his record to 9-2 and pitched the Rams into the Missouri Class 3 State Championship with a 4-1 win over Warsaw. Cox tallied ten strikeouts and no walks in seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits. Cox added a 1-for-3 day at the plate, scoring a run, while Tyler Rogers (Scott City) went 2-for-3. Joey Cooner (Warsaw, 2015) went six innings with 10 strikeouts and one walk, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Bailey Jelinek (Warsaw) led the way at the plate going 2-for-3 for Warsaw. Scott City will square off against Fatima in the Missouri Class 3 State Championship game at 1:30 today.
#2 Fatima 9, Lutheran St. Charles 4
John Hurayt and Kory Carter each hit home runs for Lutheran St. Charles, but it wasn't enough as Fatima claimed a 9-4 win and a place in the Missouri Class 3 State Championship. Alex Dickneite (Fatima) earned the win for the Comets, going seven innings allowing four earned runs on four hits, striking six and walking three. Will Robertson (Fatima) managed four walks and scored two runs. Austin Schubert (Fatima) went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Samuel Hager (Fatima) and Matthew Temmen (Fatima) each added two hits.

1:30 - Class 3 State Championship; Scott City (21-12) vs. #2 Fatima (21-7)

4:30 - #2 Bell City (23-3) vs. Northwest Hughesville (13-14)
Austin Hicks (Bell City) pitched the Cubs into the Final Four with a 10 strikeout, two-hit shutout over Dora. and defeated Oran working seven innings allowing three runs on five hits, with two strikeouts and a pair of walks. Hicks has also had a multi-game in the past three games on their way to T.R. Hughes. Hughesville comes into the game winners of their last five, including 6-4 extra inning win over Green Ridge in the District Championship.
