MOKAN Summer Trials: Pitcher's Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trails on June 19 at LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, Kansas.. Over 50 players in the 2023 t0 2019 classes from around Missouri and Kansas participated.
Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the Pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.
Pitchers
Carson Atwood RHP / 3B / Olathe West, KS / 2022Atwood is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. On the mound, Atwood’s large frame and long limbs make a projectable prospect in the future. During his delivery he gets into backside to drive towards home with good direction, over the top arm action, fastball is 72-74 mph, arm side run, changeup is 57-59 mph, curveball is 56-58 mph, 12-to-6 shape. |
Trenton Austin SS / RHP / Pittsburg, KS / 2019Austin has a large and projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and is a right handed pitcher and infielder from Pittsburg HS. On the mound, Austin shows a repeatable delivery, downhill, long arm, over the top arm slot, fastball for strikes at 76-81 mph, slider for strikes at 65-68 mph, 10-to-4 shape, and changeup is 65-67 mph. |
Tyler Barkemeyer RHP / De Soto, KS / 2019Barkemeyer is a 6-foot, 200-pound right handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class out of DeSoto HS. He showed a repeatable delivery with a slower tempo, high ¾ arm slot with clean arm action. Barkemeyer gains momentum as he works down the mound and shows good body control and direction throughout his delivery. His fastball velocity was recorded between 76-81 mph and thrown for a high percentage of strikes. He throws his changeup with near fastball arm speed between 67-72 mph and his curveball has 10-to-4 gradual break and is between 62-65 mph. |
Peyton Beck LHP / 1B / Chanute , KS / 2020Beck is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound left-handed pitcher and first basement in Kansas 2020 class from Chanute HS. On the mound, Beck has a simple and compact delivery, high ¾ arm slot, fastball shows some arm side run at 66-69 mph, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, gradual type action, 55-61 mph, changeup is 55-61 mph with some arm side run. |
Hayden Bontrager RHP / 3B / Maize South, KS / 2019Bontrager has a long and lean build, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 165 pounds. On the mound, Bontrager has a very projectable frame, long limbs, delivery starts with a slower tempo but builds as he works down the mound, fastball is thrown for a high percentage of strikes with arm side run, 76-79 mph, changeup is a plus pitch with good action, 67-70 mph, high percentage of strikes, curveball has slurve type spin, 10-to-4 shape, 66-68 mph. |
Joshua Darrenkamp OF / LHP / Maize South , KS / 2022Darrenkamp is a 5-foot-5, 125-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class from Maize South HS. On the mound, Darrenkamp repeats his delivery, good direction, body control, bigger leg kick, ¾ slot, fastball was thrown for a high percentage of strikes at 66-70 mph, curveball has 2-to-8 shape with gradual bite, 54-61 mph, changeup is 59-61 mph. |
Jack Dotterer 2B / OF / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2021Dotterer is a 5-foot-8, 137-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class from St. Thomas Aquinas HS. On the mound, Dotterer has a compact delivery, over the top arm slot, gains momentum down the mound, fastball is 66-68 mph for strikes, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, 56-60 mph, changeup is 58-61 mph. |
Cameron Draeger OF / RHP / Columbus , KS / 2021Draeger is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2021 class. On the mound, he has a streamlined frame and comes from a high three quarters arm slot. Draeger has a smooth tempo with a drop and drive type delivery. His shoulders stay level as he works in line down the mound. Fastball works 70-73 mph, down in zone. flashed a breaking ball at 60-63 mph, 12-to-6 shape, throws change at 63-65 mph with near fastball arm speed. |
Corin Eighmey RHP / OF / Olathe West, KS / 2023Eighmey is a 6-foot, 156-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2023 class. He has a slender build but projectible frame. Eighmey shows the ability to repeat his delivery with body control throughout, good direction towards home plate and clean arm action from a high ¾ slot. He threw is fastball for a high percentage of strikes between 72-74 mph. His changeup was thrown with near fastball arm speed between 66-67 mph. Eighmey threw his curveball between 56-59 mph with gradual bite and 10-to-4 shape. |
Dylan Epke 3B / RHP / Maize South, KS / 2020Epke is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class from Maize South HS. On the mound, Epke’s delivery has a slower tempo, good body control and direction, clean arm action, fastball is 74-78 mph, strikes, some arm side run, curveball has gradual slurve type spin, 10-to-4 shape, 67-69 mph, changeup is 67-69 mph. |
Carter Jones LHP / 1B / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2019Jones has a solid frame at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds. Jones’ delivery has some rhythm to it as he works down the mound with a slightly open stride, an explosive back side and utilizes his glove side arm for added deception. Jones throws from a high ¾ arm slot which allows for armside run on his fastball which seen between 72-75 mph. He throws his changeup at 67-68 mph and it showed slight movement to his armside as well as sink. Jones’ curveball showed 2-to-8 shape, gradual downward bite at 64-65 mph. |
Brenner Maloney LHP / OF / Liberty North , MO / 2019Maloney is a 6-foot, 190-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the mound, Maloney starts with a high hand position, across his body stride, accelerates down the mound, fastball proved to be a plus pitch for him at 84-86 mph for strikes, curveball showed some hard bite, 1-to-7 shape, 69-72 mph, changeup was 69-72 mph with near fastball arm speed. |
Jack McClure 2B / SS / Lafayette, MO / 2015McClure is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder and righ-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. On the mound, McClure has a smooth deliver, works from a high ¾ slot, and builds momentum down the mound. His fastball is 68-70 mph and thrown for a high percentage of strikes, changeup has armside run at 60-63 mph and his curveball has gradual bite, 12-to-6 shape and is 56-57 mph. |
Corey McCready OF / SS / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021McCready is 5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, infielder and outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. On the mound, McCready has a smooth and directional delivery, good body control, clean arm action, high ¾ arm slot, fastball was thrown for a high percentage of strikes at 65-69 mph, curveball showed late bite, 10-to-4 shape, strikes, 50-54 mph. |
Jayce Meyer LHP / OF / Maize South, KS / 2020Meyer is a projectible 6-foot-1, 150-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder from Maize South HS. On the mound, Meyer has a quick tempo to his delivery, slight coil of hips at balance, uses gloveside for added deception, over the top arm slot with effort, fastball was thrown at 74-76 mph, curveball was thrown for strikes, 63-65 mph, late bite with 1-to-7 shape, and changeup was 68 mph |
Zach Millman LHP / OF / De Soto , KS / 2020Millman is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class from DeSoto HS. Millman’s delivery shows some rhythm and gains momentum as he works downhill towards his target. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot, clean arm action and strides slightly across his body. He showed command of his fastball between 74-78 mph with armside run. Millman’s off speed consists of a changeup which was thrown for a high percentage of strikes between 57-61 mph and a curveball between 53-58 mph and 1-to-7 shape |
Blake Millman LHP / DeSoto, KS / 2020Millman is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class from DeSoto HS. Millman shows a repeatable delivery and clean arm action from his ¾ arm slot as he works downhill towards his target. His fastball has slight run to his armside and is between 70-75 mph. Millman threw his changeup for a high percentage of strikes at 65-66 mph with downward action. His curveball ranged from 59-63 mph with 1-to-7 shape and showed the ability to have late action. |
Luke Millman LHP / 1B / DeSoto, KS / 2020Luke Millman has a strong build at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. On the mound, Millman has some rhythm to his delivery with some effort, high ¾ arm slot, easy arm action, fastball has arm side run, thrown for strikes at 76-79 mph, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, late bite, 61-65 mph, and changeup is 55-59 mph. |
Nathan Nichols RHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2022Nichols has a long build and projectible frame at 5-foot-11, 150 pounds. He is a left-handed hitting first baseman and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. On the mound, Nichols shows a quick arm, over the top arm slot, balanced set up, slightly open stride and gains momentum down the mound. His fastball is 70-73 mph, changeup has occasional sink, thrown for strikes at 58-64 mph and curveball is 59-63 mph. |

Wade Reynolds 3B / RHP / Goddard Eisenhower, KS / 2019Wade Reynolds is an athletic and physcial 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder. On the mound, Reynolds repeats his delivery, works downhill, long and easy arm action, four pitches for strikes, high ¾ arm slot, fastball is 83-84 mph for strikes at the bottom of the zone, changeup is 75-78 mph, curveball showed 11-to-5 shape at 65-67 mph, slider is 73-75 mph, 10-to-4 shape with later bite. |
Owen Reynolds OF / LHP / Eisenhower, KS / 2021Owen Reynolds is a 5-foot-11, 145-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. On the mound, Reynolds repeats his delivery, loose arm action, downhill, works with rhythm, all pitches for strikes, fastball is 81-84 mph for high percentage of strikes, arm side run, changeup 69-73 mph, curveball has 2-to-8 shape, high percentage of srikes, 66-68 mph and slider is 72-73 mph. |

Braden Shelton RHP / OF / Fort Scott , KS / 2019Shelton has a slender, projectible frame at 6-foot-1 and 165-pounds. He is a right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class from Ft. Scott HS. Shelton’s delivery has long arm action, over the top arm slot, gains momentum down the mound and strides slightly across his body. Shelton’s arsenal consists of a fastball between 75-78 mph, changeup at 62-64 mph with occasional sink and curveball that ranges from 56-67 mph with gradual 11-to-5 shape. |

Matthew Trout RHP / 3B / Blue Springs South, MO / 2020Trout has slender frame with room to grow at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. He uses a high leg kick and hides the ball well behind his body with shorter arm action for deception, high ¾ arm slot, gains momentum through his delivery as he works down the mound with good direction towards home plate. Trout throws his fastball for strikes between 73-75 mph. Changeup showed some sink and run to armside between 65-68 mph and curveball was 54-56 mph. |
Brance Ware RHP / Jayhawk-Linn, KS / 2020Ware has a projectible frame at 6-fot-1, 147 pounds and is a right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class from Jayhawk-Linn HS. Ware has a simple delivery with clean and easy arm action, high ¾ arm lost, strides slightly across his body and accelerates down the mound. Ware throws his fastball for a high percentage of strikes at 77-79 mph, changeup shows arm side run at 68-71 mph and curveball has 11-to-5 shape and is 61-64 mph.
