Size And Speed Brings Strong Interest To Hugo

ESSEXVILLE - An uncommon mix of size and speed has Logan Hugo on the radar of colleges throughout the midwest.

“It’s pretty rare to be so big and yet be able to run,” noted the 6-2, 205-pound Essexville Garber junior.

Add in a strong bat along with the ability to play all three outfield positions and it is no wonder why so many schools have an interest in the 15th-ranked 2021 in Michigan.

“I’m talking to like 10 to 12 schools,” pointed out Hugo, who has visited and received offers from Butler, Wright State, Toledo and Eastern Michigan. “I’m looking to find somewhere I fit in academically and baseball-wise. I want somewhere I can play right away to make the most of my opportunity.”

Western Michigan, Miami, Ball State, Dayton, Michigan State and Missouri are others that have been in contact with Hugo along with Penn State and Cincinnati to a lesser degree.

“From the dorms to the athletic facilities, all my visits have been great,” the second-rated uncommitted junior in Michigan related.

For many, interest began in late summer.

“A lot of them saw me at the Future Games,” explained Hugo, whose prior contact came with the three Michigan schools on his list. “The Future Games definitely opened doors for schools I like that had not been in contact with me. Missouri and Penn State definitely picked up after the Future Games.”

The right-handed hitting outfielder, who has been clocked in 6.76 the 60 while displaying a 90 position velo and a 101 exit velo, has made improvements to get to this point of his recruiting process.
