By: Chris Kemlo

Here are some highlights on the players who attended the final T12 camp last week on Wednesday August 17th.
Kyle Maves, INF, 2017
Scouting Report: Ran a 6.94 in the 60’s while showing a compact, short swing from the left side during his batting practice rounds. Won’t overpower anyone but plays a solid overall game on both sides of the ball, dirtbag type kid who gets it done.

Tyler Black, RHP/SS, 2018
Scouting Report: Athletic player with actions up the middle, the arm plays real well from loose, ¾ arm slot defensively. At the plate, Black ha a lot of moving parts but was able to still barrel up in batting practice. Up to 85 mph on the mound with feel for curveball, the athleticism comes out on the mound as well, more there, two-way player at the moment.

Toronto Mets:
Game 1: 5-3 win vs. Ohio Elite
Game 2: 9-2 loss vs. Elite Squad (Miami)
Denzel Clarke, 2018, OF
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame that has chance to become real physical to go along with the athleticism that he shows. Started in centre-field, made fantastic diving play on a ball in the gap to his right, moves easily in outfield with good reads and first step. Swing has some rawness still but he shows the proper path and with added strength could become a special guy.

Jordan Balazovic, RHP, 2016
Scouting report: One of the top arms in the 2016 Canadian class continued to impress as draft day closes in on him, spinning a 1-hitter in his longest outing of the season (five innings). The 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-hander touched 92 mph out of the gate in the first inning, sitting in the 87-89 range. As he went deeper into the game, his velocity began to sit 86-88 mph, and with runners on, his fastball was down to 84-85 mph. Balazovic showed fastball command to his arm-side, and lived there for the majority of his outing. His changeup was his best off-speed pitch of the afternoon, sitting in the 83-84 mph range, was down in the zone with some fade and got a few swings and misses. Breaking ball was inconsistent, couldn’t seem to get a feel for it early on, threw one that had some tilt to it for a backwards strikeout. Hardest hit ball off him was an Andy Yerzy line-drive to right field in the first inning on an 89 mph fastball that he left middle-in.

Jacob English, RHP, 2017
Scouting report: Worked four solid innings in a Sunday start vs. Nationals. Fastball was 83-85 mph and he worked down in the zone and to both sides of the plate. Lots of first pitch strikes, filled the zone and worked with a quick tempo. Breaking ball had good deception, topped out at 77 mph, velocity varied all day in low to mid-70s with the pitch, could be a quality slider. Punched out six and didn’t allow a hit.

Jonathan Thibodeau, C, 2016
Scouting Report: We saw Thibodeau at the MLB Scouting Bureau a few weekends ago, so another look was in the works. This time around, he showed some bat speed and the ability to play behind the dish after viewing some live hitting and bullpen action. His body has gotten a lot better over time looking much leaner with strength. Currently signed with DII powerhouse West Alabama.

Zachary Fascia, RHP/C, 2016
Scouting Report: Showed command of the strike zone, uses his 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame, max fastball velocity of 89 mph on more than one occasion. Worked from the stretch primarily, consistently sat 88 mph with the fastball and mixed a changeup at 78-79 mph and11-5 shaped breaking ball at 76 mph. Had a tendency to lose the fastball arm-side, changeup will benefit with added movement. Breaking ball was kept down and out of the zone.

Hayden Malenfant, RHP, 2017
Scouting Report: Loose, easy arm with quickness to it, projectable frame that lacks strength at 6-foot-2, 152-pounds. Works from natural ¾ arm slot, athletic movements on the mound, feel for off-speed with chance to have three above average pitches. Fastball touched 85 mph, should continue to gain strength and keep getting better. Uncommitted 2017.
Ontario Nationals Workout: Pitchers - 2/13/16

Jordan Bahnuk, RHP, 2017
Bahnuk showed a live arm and athletic body and movements at 5-foot-9, 140-pounds. He was loose from a ¾ arm slot and was able to keep his fastball down in the zone and was 83 -86 mph with a bunch of 85's to go with it. His slider was down in the zone with a couple that showed late bite, changeup had run at 71-74 mph and looks to have more in the tank with maturity and strength gains.

Carson Burns, SS, 2015
Burns is extremely confident with his glove making every play with ease. He also has an advanced knowledge of how to make throws from different arm slots, a natural middle infielder. At the plate he showed some feel too with a short, compact left-handed swing that will only get better as he gets stronger.

Marcus Johnston, OF, 2016
Johnson looks physically stronger and put on quality muscle over the off-season. Ball was jumping off his bat, looked very loose in the cage with a whippy swing and good extension. Looks ready to make a leap this spring and into the summer. Is still uncommitted.
Burlington Baseball Facility - 1/29/16

Justin Bradt, LHP, 2019
6-foot, 185-pound big bodied left-handed pitcher out of Burlington, Ont. Showed a live arm for a 14-year old, sitting 74-75 while topping out at 76 with a heavy fastball from a flat-ground bullpen. Releases from a 3/4 arm slot, lots of arm-side run, closes himself off a bit and doesn't use much of his lower half. Changeup has some cutting movement, sitting 67-69. Tends to slow his arm down. Also has an 18-year-old brother who is 6-foot-7. Though it's still January, Bratt could very well emerge the top southpaw in the 2019 class.
