Updated MD/DE Class of 2022 Rankings

Through our "Boots on the Ground" approach to scouting, we at PBR Maryland are committed to providing the most comprehensive year-round coverage of amateur baseball across the state. Following a somewhat abbreviated Spring high school season and full Summer circuit; today we are proud to present our updated Class of 2022 rankings. 50 new faces enter today's update to include the Top 250 players from across the Old Line State and Delaware. 

For the first time in over a year, this update comes with a new number one as former number one player in the class, Kerry Herndon-Brown relinquishes that spot after transferring to IMG Academy (FL) for his senior season.

With Herndon-Brown now switching over to the Florida state rankings, our new number one goes to former state of Tennessee number one player; Kaden Martin. Martin, a two-sport commit to the University of Miami (Baseball & Football) recently moved to Maryland and is currently attending McDonogh in the perennially strong MIAA Conference. One of the most intriguing prospects in all of the 2022 class, Martin is well put together at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds and is ranked 70th nationally. Martin possesses extreme athleticism with defined strength throughout, and it quickly shows up at the plate where he showcases light-tower power from the left side. 

Kaden Martin OF/LHP McDonogh 2022

Jumping eleven spots from just outside of the Top 10 to number two in this edition is Linganore LHP and recent Old Dominion University commit, Ben Moore. After a superb spring and summer on the mound, his potential for the draft is quickly rising. Moore possesses a long, lean build at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds and throws with a shorter, quick arm swing and consistently gives a tough look from a deceptive three-quarter slot. The fastball shows nice sink with feel for the bottom of the zone at 87-89 mph, running it up to 91 mph a few times this summer. His secondary repertoire consists of two breaking balls that show swing-and-miss action and feel for the zone. The slider shows a sharp 1/7 shape at 78-79 mph, while the curveball has a bigger 12/6 shape that plays down in the zone. He is an athletic and efficient mover down the mound which should bode well for the development down the road.

Ben Moore LHP Linganore 2022

Kent State commit Ripken Reese comes in at number three this time around as he continues to rehab an injury sustained during football last fall at Mount St. Joseph. Reese is a tremendously versatile player with the athleticism and ability to pick it at shortstop, catch and throw behind the dish, and toe the slab when called upon; all at an elite level. He is also one of the most exciting and pure hitters throughout the region with power present to all fields. 

Working their way back up the rankings inside the Top 10 in this release are Georgetown Prep right-handed pitcher Brock Rose (No. 4), Calvert Hall catcher Lamar King (No. 5), and continuing to rise is Bishop McNamara outfielder Cam Jones Jr. (No. 7).
