Earlier this week we began a series of stories entitled "Spring Forward" where we highlight some of the top players, programs, and conferences across a variety of categories for the upcoming 2020 season.

Today our Spring Forward series takes a look at some of the top power hitters to watch swing the bat in 2020. If you like offense and want to see the ball fly around the yard this Spring; do yourself a favor and get out to see some of the guys on this list. You won't be disappointed!

POWER HITTERS TO WATCH IN 2020

Jack Bulger C / 3B / DeMatha, MD / 2020

Bulger played on the 18U USA National Team this summer that won the silver medal at the WBSC World Cup in Gijang, South Korea. The Vanderbilt commit is coming off another impressive high school season at DeMatha where he hit .545 in the WCAC with 42 hits (6 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs), drove in 28 and scored 28 runs. The Stags will need similar run production from him in the middle of the lineup this year if they hope to end St. John’s (DC) current streak of six straight WCAC titles. Expect to see Bulger put up great numbers again this spring as he prepares for the MLB draft as well.

Christopher Hagan C / 2B / Gerstell Academy, MD / 2020

Gerstell knocked off three-time defending MIAA ‘B’ Conference champion Boys’ Latin last season for their first ever baseball championship in school history. Hagan was their main run producer hitting .478 and slugging .950 with 33 hits (11 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs), and 34 RBI’s. The Delaware State commit also swiped 17 bags for the Falcons and will be asked to do it all again in 2020 as they look to win back-to-back MIAA ‘B’ Conference titles.

Matt Isaac 1B / 3B / Broadneck, MD / 2020

Isaac hit .500 and slugged .721 last season with 34 hits (9 doubles and 2 home runs) while driving in 25 and scored 21 runs for the Anne Arundel County runner-up Broadneck Bruins in 2019. He will once again be a key piece in their lineup as they look to contend for another county championship and advance in a very tough MPSSAA 4A East Region.

Noah Iseman 1B / 3B / Kent County, MD / 2021

The Radford commit is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he batted .532 with 5 doubles, 1 home run, 24 RBI’s and scored 21 runs. The Trojans will lean on his production in the middle of the order again in 2020 as they look to contend in the Bayside Conference - North Division and always tough MPSSAA 1A East Region.

Tyler Leach C / 3B / John Carroll, MD / 2020

Leach is coming off a great year  offensively for the Patriots and recently announced his commitment to High Point University. The senior hit .369 and slugged .619 last year with 6 doubles, 5 home runs, and 25 RBI’s. While John Carroll returns several key players in 2020, they will likely lean heavily on Leach in the middle of the order again to get the job done if they hope to make it back to the tournament and contend for the MIAA ‘A’ Conference title in 2020.

Roman March OF / SS / Franklin, MD / 2020

Uncommitted 2020 outfielder Roman March had a monster year at Franklin in 2019 hitting .531 with 11 doubles, 4 triples and 5 home runs while driving in 29 and scoring 30 runs. The Indians will need March to match that production again this year if they hope to advance further in the MPSSAA 3A North Region.

Josh Moylan 1B / 3B / Archbishop Spalding, MD / 2020

Archbishop Spalding finished fifth in the MIAA regular season and went two-and-cue in the playoffs in 2019. A rather disappointing season by their standards as they struggled to click for a good portion of the season. 2020 however is a new season and the Cavaliers return several talented players - none more important than East Carolina commit Josh Moylan. Moylan hit .440 and slugged .890 with 11 doubles, 1 triple, and 8 home runs, while driving in 39 runs a season ago. His leadership and run production in the middle of the lineup this year should give the Cavaliers a good chance to bounce back and contend for the MIAA title again in 2020.

Chris Osorio SS / RHP / Parkdale, MD / 2020

Parkdale put together a great season a year ago falling just short of a MPSSAA State Semi-final berth with a loss to Eleanor Roosevelt in the 4A South Region final. Senior shortstop Chris Osorio led the Panthers with a .578 batting average and slugged 1.178 with 6 home runs, and 15 RBI’s. Osorio will need to have another big season for the Panthers as they once again look to contend for a Prince George’s county championship and advance in the MPSSAA playoffs.

Joe Radek OF / RHP / McDonogh, MD / 2020

McDonogh surprised a lot of people last year making the MIAA ‘A’ Conference tournament for the first time in several years. That success was due in large part to the emergence of several young talented players and Swarthmore commit Joe Radek in the middle of the lineup. Radek hit .384 for the Eagles in 2019 and slugged .576 with 38 hits (9 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs), 27 RBI’s and scored 30 runs. The Eagles will not be overlooked again this season and will need Radek’s big bat in the middle of the lineup to come through if they hope to make it back to the tournament and contend for the MIAA ‘A’ Conference title in 2020.

Luke Trythall 1B / LHP / Poolesville, MD / 2020

Another big bat to watch this spring is Luke Trythall from Poolesville in Montgomery County. The senior first basemen recently committed to UMBC and will look to lead the Falcons again at the plate in 2020. Trythall hit .480 with 5 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 home runs a season ago. The MPSSAA 2A West region is perennially stacked with talented teams so if the Falcons hope to make it out of their section, Trythall will need to have another huge season.
