Our Week 2 Game of the Week was a good one between Live Oak and Barbe, in which the Bucs came out victorious by a score of 3-0.  This week, we will travel to Baton Rouge, LA for our Game of the Week between Brother Martin and Parkview Baptist.  Brother Martin lost some key offensive pieces from last year's squad and are 7-1.  Parkview Baptist has lived up to their preseason hype by starting out undefeated.  Below, we take a look at each team before tonight's matchup at 6 PM.  

 

Brother Martin

Record: 7-1

Key Wins: East Ascension, Holy Cross

Runs Scored: 51 (6.4 runs scored/game)

Runs Allowed: 17 (2.1 runs allowed/game)

 

Brother Martin lost key offensive staples in 1B Tre Morgan (LSU) and OF Joe Delaney (Southeastern Louisiana), but have managed to start the year off 7-1, with key wins against East Ascension and Holy Cross.  The Crusaders have been led offensively by 2022 Colin Roussel (.500 AVG) and 2021 Tyler Johnson (.333 AVG).  On the mound, we expect to see either 2021 LHP Tyler Velino or 2022 LHP Caden Durand.  Velino (0-1) has thrown 11 innings, giving up 15 H, 6 R, 5 ER, with 4 BB and 10 K's.  Durand (1-0) picked up a win against Fountainbleu, throwing 7 innings, giving up 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, with 0 BB and 6 K's.  2022 RHP Sam Gernhauser has been super reliable out of the pen for Brother Martin this season as well.  He's compiled a 2-0 record throwing 2.1 innings, giving up 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, with 1 BB and 5 K's.  

 

Parkview Baptist

Record: 8-0

Key Wins: Assumption, St. Michael's

Runs Allowed: 8 (1 run allowed/game)

 

Parkview Baptist isn't lacking in the run scoring department, as they have averaged just over 13 runs/game, which should certainly give their arms piece of mind.  On the mound for the Eagles, we expect to see 2021 RHP Hunter Ponson (LSU-E Signee) get the start and 2021 LHP Ryan Harland (Louisiana Tech Signee) in relief.  Ponson (1-0) has been a strike throwing machine for the Eagles, throwing 7.2 innings, giving up 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, with 0 BB and 14 K's.  Harland (3-0) has been impressive over his 12.1 IP, giving up 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, with 4 BB and 17 K's.  Offensively, Parkview Baptist has been led by 2021 SS Brennan Holt (LSU Signee) and 2022 OF Caleb Stelly (University of Louisiana Commit).  Holt was compiled a .526 AVG with 1 3B, 16 R, 5 RBI, and 10 BB.  Stelly has been a RBI machine so far this year, hitting .588 with 5 2B, 12 R, 12 RBI, and 4 BB.
