Seth Traweek, a 2019 right-handed pitcher (Ouachita Christian HS), got the start for Team Select in their second game of the weekend. A highly projectible rising sophomore, Traweek showed a clean arm action with length and quick arm speed. He sat 83-86 mph touching 87 mph and consistently stuck fastballs on the inner half to right-handed hitters. He also showed good feel for a breaking ball that had 11/5 shape, quality spin and depth at 72-74 mph.
Will Ripoll, a 2018 right-handed pitcher and infielder (John Curtis HS), cemented himself as one of the premier uncommitted 2018 graduates left in the state of Louisiana. Primarily recruited this summer as a pitcher, Ripoll created buzz by showing legitimate ability to become a two-way prospect. In his two-inning stint on the mound in Team Select’s game two, Ripoll sat 84-87 mph with his fastball, but struggled to show his pin-point command early. He eventually settled in, also showing a wipe-out slider at 74-76 mph, allowing him to strike out 6 hitters in two innings of work. As a position player Ripoll showed feel for infield play, arm strength across with an 87 mph positional velocity, and an aggressive right-handed swing with bat speed, line-drive approach, and level path, as he added 4 hits, reached base in 7 of 9 at-bats, and added a few stolen bases.
Zane Zeppuhar, a 2018 left-handed hitting outfielder (St. Amant HS), had the big highlight of the weekend from Louisiana players. In game one, Zeppuhar took a down and in fastball deep over the right field wall for a home run. During the workout portion of the event on Thursday, Zeppuhar showed a loose, easy swing with bat speed and level path, spraying balls from gap to gap. He also showed solid defensive ability in the outfield, as well as quality arm strength with carry on throws.
Jay Curtis, a big-bodied 2018 catcher (John Curtis HS), showed a solid hit tool this weekend. Curtis took a quality round of batting practice on Thursday, showing present power to the pull side and posted a 92 mph exit velocity. He found the barrel often in game action, as he added three doubles driving in several runs for Team Select.
Cade Beloso, a 2018 first baseman (John Curtis HS), had arguebaly the best round of batting practice across all states on Thursday showing elite bat speed and strength, posting a 95 mph exit velocity. He reached base in 3 of 8 at-bats, adding a hit and RBI during live game action.
Logan Stevens, a physical 2018 left-handed hitting outfielder (John Curtis HS), took a solid round of batting practice on Thursday posting an 89 mph exit velocity, and showed solid arm strength with carry on throws. In live game action, Stevens reached base twice, including a single.
Jordin LaBruzza, a 2018 infielder (John Curtis HS), showed actions and feel for infield play shifting between third base and second base all weekend, as well as taking solid rounds of batting practice showing bat speed and strength at contact. LaBruzza reached base in 4 of 9 at-bats, adding a single and a stolen base.
Owen Hnatyshyn, a hulking 2019 first baseman (St. Paul’s HS), showed big power during his batting practice sessions, hammering multiple balls over the fence during the three day event, as well as posting a 95 mph exit velocity. In live game action, he added a double and reached base in 5 of 9 at-bats.
