Blayne Enlow RHP / 1B / St Amant, LA / 2017

Landon Marceaux RHP / Destrehan , LA / 2018

Plenty of high school coaches around the state were glad to see Marceaux graduate in 2018, as the right-hander was simply dominating during his high school career at Destrehan HS. A Louisiana State recruit, Marceaux was drafted in the 37th round by the Yankees in 2018, and he eventually passed on professional baseball, and headed to Baton Rouge. Ranked No. 1 in Louisiana’s 2018 class, No. 32 Overall. Lean 6-foot, 180-pound frame, athletic build. Long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and easy effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sits 87-90 mph, up to 93 mph, with late sink and advanced command. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with tight spin, fastball arm speed and sharp break at 78-80 mph. Flashes a hard, tight slider with depth and fastball arms speed at 82-86 mph. Also shows advanced feel for changeup with fastball arm speed and fading action at 79-81 mph. Marceaux's sophomore season was off to a hot start before things got shut down, pitching at a 2.70 ERA in 23.1 innings.

Kale Breaux LHP / Sulphur, LA / 2015

A southwestern Louisiana legend, Kale Breaux was one of the most entertain high school pitching prospects we've covered since launching in 2015. A pitchability left-hander, Breaux routinely carved up opposing lineups during his time at Sulphur HS. Mississippi State recruit. Ranked No. 3 in Louisiana's 2015 Class, No. 55 Overall. Athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. Left-handed pitcher with a quick arm. Long, loose arm action into  a high-3/4 release.  Pitches with quick rhythm and tempo with a good balance point, in-line direction, landing square and a little upright with lower effort.  Uses a 3 pitch mix with a fastball in the 84-88 mph range with life at the plate and command to both sides of the plate. Curveball has 11/5 shape and spins well at 73-75, but it can get a little loopy at times. Flashes an average straight change at times at 76-78 mph. Occasionally leaves the changeup elevated in the zone so consistency will need to improve. Highly successful HS lefty mostly because he has an advanced feel to pitch. Breaux completed his undergraduate degree in 2019 at Mississippi State before transferring home to McNeese State to finish his playing career. This year, Breaux pitched 14.1 innings with a 3.77 ERA for the Cowboys in a shortened season. 

Nick Lee RHP / South Beauregard, LA / 2015

Another dominating arm in the 2015 class, Nick Lee was tons of fun to watch during his time at South Beauregard HS, as he could run his fastball up to the mid-90s at times. Louisiana-Lafayette recruit. Ranked No. 1 in Louisiana's 2015 class, No. 24 Overall. Long 6-foot-4 190-pound frame, lean build with projection. Right-handed pitcher with a loose, clean arm action into a high-3/4 slot with a fast arm. In-line delivery landing squared with moderate effort and a fairly violent head whack. Power arm works in the 89-93 mph range with the ability to touch 95 mph at times. Shows a curveball and a slider, but the slider will likely be the pitch that sticks as he advances in the game.  The slider has good velocity at 80-82, and has good tight spin.  The depth isn't where you want it right now, but the pitch should continue to improve as he matures. Showed above average command of two pitches, the fastball and slider throughout the summer and occasionally would show a changeup, which made him devastating on opposing hitters. Lee was drafted in the 9th round of the 2018 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, after a solid career for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Cade Beloso 1B / OF / John Curtis, LA / 2018

The 2017 and 2018 State Champion clubs from John Curtis HS rolled out one of the most explosive lineups in recent memory, and Cade Beloso was the heart of that dominating force. Although he lacks some of the typical physical attributes of highly touted prospects, Beloso has always put up eye-popping production numbers. During his senior season at John Curtis HS, Beloso hit .489 with 13 home runs, and 38 RBI. His offensive ability transitioned to the next level as well, as Beloso hit .279 with 10 home runs and 52 RBI during his freshman campaign at LSU. Louisiana State recruit, Ranked No. 6 in Louisiana’s 2018 class, No. 325 Overall. Strong 5-foot-11, 215-pound frame, powerful lower half, defined strength in wrists and forearms. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick and clean exchange, and plays through balls athletically. Short, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 79 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick and explosive lower half. Gap to gap, power type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 99 mph. Also posted a 7.58 60-yard dash. Beloso is now a sophomore at Louisiana State where he hits in the middle of the Tigers' lineup. He was hitting .313 before the 2020 season ended. 

Hayden Cantrelle SS / RHP / Teurlings Catholic, LA / 2017

An athletic switch-hitting middle infielder, Hayden Cantrelle was certainly an electric player to watch during his career at Teurlings Catholic HS. Cantrelle hit .391 with four home runs, 27 RBI and 18 stolen bases in his senior year of high school. Drafted in the 40th round of the 2017 draft, Cantrelle ultimately headed to school, where he's been a force a top the Ragin' Cajun lineup. In 2019 Cantrelle hit .309 with nine home runs, 31 RBI, and stole 28 bases. Louisiana-Lafayette recruit. Ranked No. 4 in Louisiana’s 2017 class, No. 127 Overall. Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, fast-twitch type athlete. Quality athlete that has posted a 6.57 60-yard dash. Switch hitter that hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half, and excellent balance. Shows a compact, flat bat path with line-drive, gap to gap approach with fluid rhythm and bat speed. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Short arm into high-3/4 arm slot with accuracy and carry on throws. Ranked No. 76 on the most recent PBR Draft Board.

Josh Smith SS / 2B / Catholic (BR), LA / 2016

A four-year starter at one of the state's premier high school programs, Smith established himself as one of the best defensive shortstops to come out of the state in years. Drafted in the 38th round out of high school, he ultimately decided to head to school, where he put together a high successful career at LSU. Louisiana State recruit. Ranked No. 3 in Louisiana's 2016 class, No. 143 overall. Average 5-foot-9, 170-pound infielder with an average, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick and clean exchange, and plays through balls well. Loose arm action into ¾ release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from a tall setup, smooth load, leg kick, and solid lower half. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Also posted a 6.79 60 yard dash. After his career as a Tiger, Smith was drafted in the 2nd round by the New York Yankees. In 2019, he hit .324 in 33 at-bats in shortened season. 

Cade Doughty SS / 3B / Denham Springs, LA / 2019

A four-year starter at Denham Springs HS, Doughty was the No.1 ranked player in Louisiana's 2019 class from wire-to-wire. A highly productive offensive player, Doughty hit .505 with six home runs, 10 doubles, 27 RBI, and stole 15 bases in his senior season. Those offensive tools helped him transition to the next level quickly as well, as Doughty was off to a hot start in his freshman season, hitting .278 with two home runs, and 12 RBI before it was cut short. Louisiana State recruit. Ranked No. 1 in Louisiana’s 2019 class, No. 35 Overall. Athletic 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame, wiry strength, room to add strength and size. Extremely advanced bat with barrel awareness, strength and bat speed. Hits to all fields with pull side power, posting an exit velocity of 95 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from balanced, athletic setup, smooth load, short stride and explosive lower half.  Gap to gap, line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm and a level path that creates natural leverage. Solid defender with average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, and plays through balls well. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 86 mph. Quality athlete that posted a 6.75 60 yard dash. Doughty was taken in the 39th round out of high school. 

Jacob Pearson OF / West Monroe, LA / 2017

Louisiana's 2017 Player of the Year, Jacob Pearson was one of the most exciting left-handed hitters the state of Louisiana has ever seen. During his senior season at West Monroe HS, Pearson hit .523 with 13 home runs, 18 doubles, and 41 RBI. Pearson was taken in the 3rd round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels, and ultimately decided to sign and forgo his college career. Louisiana State recruit. Ranked No. 3 in Louisiana's 2017 class, No. 24 Overall. 6-foot, 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder with compact, muscular build, defined lower half and advanced strength in hands/forearms. Overall high-level athlete, one of the top left-handed hitters in the 2017 class; currently ranked No. 38 in the PBR Draft 100. Turned in one of the top offensive performances at the Super 60. Simple, balanced approach, minimal moving parts, no stride, smooth, quiet hand load yet generates premium bat speed. Extremely strong and direct to the ball, level path, advanced barrel awareness, maintains excellent balance through contact, barrel stays in hitting zone, generates natural lift, ball jumps off bat with backspin carry; low-effort swing with high-level results. Registered 100-mph exit velocity.  Athletically, ran a 6.67 laser-timed 60, powerful strider. Defensively, right-handed thrower, has shown significant improvements, cleaner arm action, was clocked at 79 mph from the outfield. In 2019, Pearson played in 117 games between single-A and high-A where he hit .303 with 30 extra base hits. 

Travis Swaggerty OF / Denham Springs, LA / 2015

Another prospect from PBR Louisiana's first season of 2015, Travis Swaggerty was an obvious choice in Center Field, as the super athletic left-handed hitter from Denham Springs HS is one of the most toolsy outfielders the state has seen. Swaggerty had a highly productive career at South Alabama, hitting .296 with 13 home runs, and 38 RBI in his final season there. He was eventually selected in the 1st round of the 2018 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. South Alabama recruit. Ranked No. 13 in Louisiana's 2015 class, No. 264 overall. Athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame from Denham Springs, LA. Athletic build with present strength and fast twitch actions. Quality defender that runs well with tracking instincts and plus arm strength. Left-handed hitter with smooth stroke, loads of bat speed, strength at contact, and raw power potential. Plays the game extremely hard and fast. A raw product on the mound, but possess a loose, whippy arm that sits 88-91 mph and gets up to 92 mph. He has flown under the radar for the majority of his career, but is making some noise as a possible draft sleeper. Swaggerty spent the 2019 season in high-A where he hit .265 with 32 extra base hits and stole 23 bases.

Antoine Duplantis OF / Lafayette, LA / 2015

Another outfielder from the 2015 class, Antoine Duplantis was highly productive during his high school career at Lafayette HS, and its no secret he is one of the best hitters that has rolled through the LSU program, a program that has rich history of offensive players. During his four year career for the Tigers, Duplantis hit .324 and collected an eye-popping 359 hits. He was ultimately drafted in the 12th round of the 2019 draft by the New York Mets. Louisiana State recruit. Ranked No. 9 in Louisiana's 2015 class, No. 135 Overall. A 2015 OF with a 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame from Lafayette, LA.  Exceptional athlete, 6.7 runner, with advanced instincts and tracking speed in the outfield.  Left-handed hitter with a short compact stroke, present bat speed, hits to all fields, and displayed occasionally pop.  Plays extremely hard, understands the game and the type of player he is. Duplantis hit .237 in short season during his first year of pro ball. 

Daniel Cabrera OF / LHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2017

Louisiana's 2017 class was one of the strongest we've seen since launching in 2015, and Daniel Cabrera is one the purest left-handed hitters that's come out of the state in a while. Cabrera hit .500 with four home runs, eight doubles, and 21 RBI during his senior year of high school, and was drafted in the 26th round of the 2017 draft. Cabrera ultimately choose to head to school, where he instantly impacted the LSU lineup. Cabrera finished his freshman season hitting .315 with eight home runs, and 54 RBI. He followed that up hitting .284 with 12 home runs, and 50 RBI during the 2019 season. Louisiana State recruit. Ranked No. 2 in Louisiana’s 2017 class, No. 23 Overall. Strong 6-foot, 180-pound frame, athletic build. Premium left-handed bat, that has had significant draft buzz this spring. Athletic, balanced setup, occasionally will implement a leg lift, but mainly sticks with short stride. Smooth load with simple, direct path, consistently on time, present bat speed and strength at contact. Has shown an uptick in athleticism this spring, consistently posting 4.1 home to 1st times. Finished the day 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, two RBI, and long, towering home run to right field. Cabrera is in his junior season at LSU, where he was hitting .345 with a .966 OPS and a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases before the season was ended. Ranked No.42 on the most recent PBR Draft Board.
