TN: 16U Limited Tourney
July 7, 2018
From Thursday, June 21st until Sunday, June 24th, we hosted the PBR Limited Tournament at the beautiful Lindsay Nelson Field, home of the Tennessee Volunteers. At least that was the plan, as weather prevented the start of the tournament until Friday and shortened the Championship game on Sunday. Rawlings SE Cross Hit came away the victors of the event. Special thanks to all the staff at Tennessee for their help on a rainy weekend and creating a tremendous atmosphere and playing surface for the competitors!
There was a lot of talent on display, read below for standouts and check out the Twitter feed for video highlights (if they participated in the Top Prospect Games, that will be mentioned and you can head there for a full, in-depth writeup):

6-13, 2 2B, 3B, 3 BB Center fielder stood out in everything he did and showed potential for all 5 tools. Medium, athletic frame w/ lean strength, projectable. Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into stride to square and proper load. Simple, repeatable swing. Generates above average bat speed through the zone. All fields approach w/ lot of line drives when right. Lead-off hitter qualities, understands the strike zone and rarely expands. Projectable pull power. Plus runner wants to hit gaps and leg out extra bases. Maximizes his speed, plays the game hard and had two 4.35 turns on extra base hits. Stood out for this consistently, busting his butt in the third game of the day out of the box. Defensively, projects as a plus defender in CF w/ speed to cover gap to gap, arm strength w/ carry through target. An impact player who plays the game hard. |
