BRADENTON, FL—The final day of the second week of the PDP League was adjusted because of forecasted rain, so instead of back-to-back games, we went double barrel at 10 a.m. Bouncing between fields makes it tough to really bear down on hitters, but the pitchers made the day easy as we saw several impressive arms.

Team Howard vs. Team Jones

+ This one was filled with dominant arms and LHP Kyle Harrison (De La Salle HS, CA) was the first up for Team Howard and the UCLA recruit struck out five in three innings, allowing a run on three hits and a walk. From a 3/4 slot, he sat 90-93 mph with above average arm-side life and mixed in a slider at 75-80 with 3/4 break and a fading changeup at 82-83.

+ Team Jones started with RHP Jackson Fristoe (Paducah Tilghman HS, KY), a Kentucky recruit. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one. He sat 88-90 and spun two solid breaking balls. The slider was 80-82 and showed big, sweeping break at first, but when he landed, it had sharp, late bite. The curveball showed more depth and was 70-72.

+ Following Fristoe was RHP Cam Brown (Flower Mound HS, TX), easily the most impressive arm on the day. The Texas Christian recruit did allow two runs on a hit and three walks, but struck out five and showed filthy stuff. His fastball was 90-95 with heavy life. The slider was at least a plus pitch at 80-83 with hard, late bite. He also mixed in a power changeup at 86-87.

+ SS/RHP Tanner Witt (Episcopal HS, TX) got two innings of work and struck out four, working 90-91 with his fastball. The Texas recruit also mixed in a breaking ball that ranged from 72-76 and an 82-85 changeup.

+ SS/RHP Cade Horton (Norman HS, OK), an Oklahoma recruit, closed things out with two walks and strikeout in one inning. He was 89-93 while mixing in a slider that was 79-81 with at least average potential.

+ RHP Blake Money (Summit HS, TN) logged three innings and struck out one while allowing two hits. A Louisiana State recruit, he ranged from 90-94 with his fastball and flashed an average changeup that ranged from 80-86, though he slowed his arm on it at times. He also mixed in a 78 slider.

+ UT/RHP Nolan McLean (Garner HS, NC) allowed a hit and walk while striking out one over two innings. His fastball showed life low in the zone, sitting 90-93.

Team Larkin vs. Team Jeter

+ Team Larkin put their foot on the gas and didn’t let up Saturday, beating Team Jeter 14-3 behind nine hits, nine walks and 12 stolen bases. OF/LHP Robert Hassell (Independence HS, TN) had the lone extra-base hit for Larkin, a double, and stole five bases, but also jumped on the mound for two innings, striking out two. He was 87-88 and showed a 74-78 breaking ball with slurvy action.

+ LHP Dax Fulton (Mustang HS, OK) started for Team Larkin and struck out two while walking one in two innings. He was 89-92 and mixed in a tight 2/8 curveball with angle at 78-80.

+ 3B/RHP Ethan Long (Mountain Pointe HS, AZ) pitched the eighth inning for Larkin, allowing a home run to OF Dylan Crews (Lake Mary HS, FL). His fastball was 92-94 with arm-side life and he showed a 12/6 curveball at 75-76, as well as an 84-85 changeup.

+ Crews’ home run was a hard line drive to right field off of a 92 mph fastball.

+ RHP Nate Wohlgemuth (Owasso HS, OK) started for Team Jeter and struck out two while walking one over three innings. His fastball was 90-92 from a short arm action with arm-side life. His changeup was his best secondary pitch, showing run at 82-85.
