Christian Chalabi (St. Thomas Aquinas, 2016) is a 6-foot 195-pound right handed hitting first baseman. Chalabi runs a 7.00 60, gets down the line in 4.31-seconds and has an exit velos of event at 94 mph. At the plate, Chalabi is a physical hitter. He starts from a balanced position, and uses a controlled leg lift. He is short to contact, with level extension, and uses the middle of the field. At first base, he makes accurate throws from a three-quarters arm slot with fluid footwork and 77 mph positional velo.
Last season, Chalabi earned Second-Team All-EKL honors, batting .400 for the Saints. Currently, he is playing football and taking college visits. Here is a closer look to Chalabi's recruiting process.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Chalabi: I'm looking for a school that has a strong business program and will give me an opportunity to contribute immediately on the baseball field to help the program succeed.
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for St. Thomas Aquinas in 2016.
Chalabi: In my Junior season at St. Thomas Aquinas I was named 2nd Team All EKL. I batted .400 with 1 home run and 21 RBI. I had a slugging percentage of .681 and OBP of .567. We finished 19-3 and won the EKL. Returning next spring at Aquinas are seniors Riley Pint, James Cosentino, Blake Lillis, Dallas Mitchell along with Juniors Nathan Mark and Bayler Hinz.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Chalabi: My goals for my Senior season include repeating as EKL Champions and helping St. Thomas Aquinas win another State Title.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Chalabi: I currently play for the 18U KC Bullets coached by Dale Reed.
PBR: Do you play any other sports? I
Chalabi: play Defensive End in football for St.Thomas Aquinas.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Chalabi: I scored a 28 on the ACT have a 3.97 GPA.
