Unsigned Seniors : Top Uncommitted '25 Bats

JD Stein SS / 2B / Carmel High School, IN / 2025

+ The top-ranked shortstop in the class and an absolute gamer, Stein is currently hearing from Top-25 programs from across the country. His card is littered with high grades, a plus thrower (97 across), with premier bat-to-ball abilities, a very strong run tool (6.6), and a chance to stick at short in the long run. Despite the undersized, 5-foot-9 frame, Stein has sneaky gap power that stems from above average bat speed and an accurate barrel. Stein earned an invite to the East Coast Pro this summer and although his frame does not fit the prototypical prep SS build, a loud toolset and strong track record of in-game production will keep him as a follow for scouts next spring. 

Jaxon Sparks OF / LHP / Carroll Fort Wayne , IN / 2025

From Spring '24

+ Sparks had the best performance of any uncommitted outfielder at the event. There is real physicality in his 6-foot-1, 220 pound frame that translates to major strength in his left-handed swing. Sparks works behind the ball with an efficient lower-half, producing a peak exit velocity of 100 mph, with multiple well-spun balls to the pull-side gap. To add excitement to the offensive profile, Sparks turned in a 6.63 60 yard dash. Arm strength is a tool for Sparks - up to 92 mph from the outfield along with 88 mph from the mound. Sparks is a must-know uncommitted junior that has improved his game since last year's Future Games.

+ Sparks is one of the top uncommitted juniors within the Hoosier State and was outstanding in this look as a left-handed arm, showing upside as a true two-way prospect at the collegiate level. Sparks earned the win in a 5.1 IP performance, allowing just (3) hits, (0) ER, (3) BB, and striking out (9). The physical, 6-foot-1, 220 pound southpaw ran his fastball up to 91 early, settling at 87-90 and holding it well into his outing. He mixed with a breaking ball and change, showing very solid feel for all three. Sparks has feel to add & subtract with spin, softening it up to land + flashing some with sharp, late sweep at 78-80 in order to induce chase. His change works with late sink at 76-78 and he punched out a division one recruit RHH with it.

Cole Huett OF /  Our Lady of Providence, IN / 2025

+ After recently decommitting from Virginia, Huett is back on the board and checks in as the No. 3 ranked uncommitted position player left on the board. The left-handed bat is the carrying tool within the profile - a short, simple operation that allows for repeatable moves and quality bat to ball, with sneaky juice in the 6-foot, 190 pound frame. The arm is a solid tool, as well, and he plays faster in-game than the 7.2 60 suggests. Huett is a high floor left-handed bat that is a quality option for schools with a need in that department. 

Andrew Krupa OF / Center Grove High School, IN / 2025

+ Krupa checks in as the No. 4 ranked uncommitted bat in the class, recently re-opening his recruitment after committing to Ball State shortly after the 2023 Future Games. There is significant upside in all areas of his game with the 6-foot-4, 170 pound frame holding the potential to blossom into a middle of the order type bat. There is developing juice in the long-levered, left-handed stroke that becomes even more intriguing when combined with a 6.7 60-time. The swing works on a shorter, upward path with bat speed to come as he matures into more strength. Krupa should be a priority watch for schools looking to bolster their '25 class with a high upside bat. 

Peyton Dickens OF / RHP / Whiteland Community High School, IN / 2025

From Spring of '24 - Dickens is one of the more interesting uncommitted prospects in the state. Standing at an athletic, projectable, 6-foot-5, 175 pound frame - the left-handed hitting outfielder has present tools to go along with tons of upside. Our staff has seen him in two looks over the past week, and he combined to go 5 for 7 with a double, and an opposite field home run. Dickens is showing more bat speed this season, with more strength at impact, and it is easy to dream on more coming with his frame having all-kinds of room to add mass. Dickens is a solid runner (6.82 60) with arm strength, and holds two-way upside (easy 86 on the bump). There is some rawness to his game, however the upside is super intriguing. Dickens sets up in an athletic stance and uses a simple toe-tap stride as he works behind the baseball with an upward path. 

Caiden Verrett C / Hanover Central High School, IN / 2025

+ Verrett is one of the best athletes on the list with a valuable profile and lots of upside left in his game. Standing at 6-foot, 210 pounds, Verrett is a dual-sport standout - also receiving attention as a college football recruit. The top-ranked catcher in the class comes with a premier run tool for the position (6.74) and twitchy, explosive strength in the short, handsy, left-handed swing. Verrett offers quality catch and throw abilities - with pop times in the 1.9s and an 80 mph arm from the crouch that he showed off at this year's Prep Baseball Senior Future Games. While parts of his game are unrefined at the moment, Verrett is another higher ceiling '25 position guy that could really tick with proper development. 

Trevor Corbett SS / Noblesville , IN / 2025

From Spring of '24 - Corbett had a solid night at the dish to start his junior campaign. The calling card for Corbett is his right-handed bat, and he collected two hits on this night, jumping all over a fastball that he took off the LF wall for a double, and later singling over the shortstop on a 2-strike single. I love the pre-pitch rhythm in the setup, a controlled waggle that flows to his launch position. The barrel turns on an ideal path, on-plane early and staying there to extension. Corbett has quick hand speed and present above average bat speed. Corbett likely profiles as a bat-first 2B/3B or LF at the next level, but his arm is a tool that works with strength (91 across the infield). 

Johnnie Ankenbruck C / OF / Homestead, IN / 2025

From Spring of '24 - Ankenbruck is one of the better options behind the dish in Indiana's junior class, and I was able to see him in three games during opening week. A projectable, 6-foot-2, 175 pounder with wiry strength, Ankenbruck is sure-handed behind the dish, an above average receiver that moves very well laterally. He was tasked with catching with RISP often, with some members of his pitching staff struggling to command it early in the season, and he saved multiple runs on spiked fastballs and pulled breaking balls. At the dish, Ankenbruck looks to ambush early in-counts with a loose, level swing that has some strength at impact. He shows the ability to use the whole field, hitting a couple middle of the field to pull-side gap liners, and hitting a backside double in the three games I saw of him. Ankenbruck has fringy arm strength with a quick transfer, and is not afraid to back pick. 

Zander Carnahan OF / Fishers High School, IN / 2025

+ A tooled-out bat that shows the ability to perform on a consistent basis - Carnahan offers premier strength and explosiveness in his compact, 6-foot-1, 190 pound frame. His tools jump off the page - starting with a 6.66 60-yard dash, elite arm strength (94 mph), and exit velocities that reach 100+. Carnahan creates outstanding bat speed within a simple, rotational, right-handed swing that presently holds gap power. 

River Pecina OF / Penn High School, IN / 2025

+ A twitch-ball that should be able to stick in CF in the long-run, Pecina stands at a wiry, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. The northern Indiana native creates twitchy bat speed in a tight window, producing 100+ EV's that pair well with a high-end run tool (6.6 60-yard dash). Pecina hits out of a wide, grounded stance with minimal movement throughout - profiling as a top of the lineup, high contact bat that adds impact on the bases.
