Preseason All-State Upperclass Preview
March 1, 2024
The Preseason All-State weekend is upon us and we are set to see nearly all of the top 2025 grads in the state of Indiana on March 2nd at Pro X Athlete in Westfield, Indiana. Twenty seven division one recruits are currently on the roster, with another handful of players in attendance holding offers in-hand.
Over 175 players are slated to showcase their talents in front of our staff, and like every year, this event will cause shifts in the overall class rankings. Read along to learn more about the must-watch players for the event, staff predictions, and a handful of uncommitted 'pick-to-clicks'.
Must-Watch Prospects
+ 12 of the top 15 ranked arms in the 2025 class will be in attendance for Saturday's event and this group of arms will undoubtedly put on a show. The top ranked arm in the class, Blane Metz (Indiana), returns to the All-State after posting a 94 mph fastball at last year's event. He will look to again post the top fastball in the class, but will be pushed by guys like Xavier Carrera (Indiana), Joshua Flores (Cincinnati), and Parker Rhodes (Xavier). Matthew Fisher (Indiana) had a huge performance at this event last year, committing to Indiana just days after the event, and he will look to affirm his status as one of the top arms in the class. Austin McNabb (Dayton) is a helium '25 arm that has done nothing but boost his stock over the past 12 months - his bullpen will certainly be a must-watch. We've gotten reports to suggest Alex Barr (Indiana) has made a recent velo jump, he will be another must-watch. 2-way performer and Louisville recruit, Collin Osenbaugh, is a top-10 player in the class that will look to maintain that status with another strong showcase performance. Lastly, Joe Glander (Notre Dame) was one of the top arms in the class prior to an injury that caused him to miss most of his sophomore season. Glander is healthy and will be in attendance, looking to return to the form we saw prior to his commitment to Notre Dame. I'm excited to get a look at some of the top uncommitted arms in the class that are in attendance - LHP Lucas Collins, RHP Trent Kulig, RHP Logan Cotton, RHP Ivan Mastalski, and RHP Aidan Micinski, amongst other listed later in this article.
+ The top bats in this class embody the phrase undersized is the new 6'4" with SS Mason Barth (Notre Dame), OF Cal Gates (Indiana), SS JD Stein (Uncommitted), and OF Cole Huett (Virginia). All are under 6-foot, with standout run-tools and unmatched bat-to-ball skills compared to their peers. 1B Eli Bennett (Indiana) will look to match a big performance that he had as a freshman at the Preseason All-State. A trio of Indiana recruits, 3B Landen Fry, OF Noah Drake, and 1B/OF Davian Carrera, are highly touted bats in attendance looking to raise their stock. I am expecting good performances from a trio of Ball State recruits in OF Andrew Krupa, SS Huston Dunn, and OF Brandt Kendall. Some of my favorite uncommitted bats in the class will be monitored closely throughout the day - this group includes C Drew McTagertt, OF Maalik Perkins, OF/1B Jaxon Sparks, OF Gabe Mathison, and UTL Trevor Corbett.
