This week we began our rollout of the positional analysis from the Unsigned Senior Showcase at The MAX on October 8th. Following the event we rolled out the full Statistical Analysis and Quick Hits from the event.

Today we take a look at the near 40 outfielders that were in attendance. Luke Seidel (Fremd) stood out in the outfield with his elite 6.56 60 time and loose, quick right-handed swing. Tommy Nelsen (St. Charles North) came in at No. 2 on the list. Nelsen, ran a 6.82 60 and has a repeatable swing with bat speed.

TOP OUTFIELD PROSPECTS

1. Luke Seidel, OF/INF, Fremd, 2018
5-foot-10, 160-pound, lean, athletic, multi-positional prospect. Ran an event-best 6.56 laser-timed 60. At the plate, right-handed hitter, open tall setup, toe-tap stride, utilizes lower half and maintains balance through contact. Fluid rhythm, flashes loose, athletic hands, creates bat speed and gap-to-gap approach; 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, profiles best in the outfield. Quick feet, plays through the baseball, clean transfer, short arm action from an over-the-top slot, effort in throws at times, clocked at 83 mph. On the infield, reliable hands and throws clocked at 76 mph.

2. Tommy Nelsen, OF, St. Charles North, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound, athletically built, muscular, right-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 6.82 laser-timed 60. Right-handed hitter, starts from a balanced, slightly open setup, toe-tap stride, and maintains balance throughout. Compact swing, fast bat, controls the barrel, makes consistent hard contact and the ball jumps off the bat at times. Stays short to the ball and works from gap-to-gap; 83 mph exit velocity. In the outfield, fluid footwork, steady hands, plays through the baseball. Long arm action, throws are accurate with carry and clocked at 89 mph.

3. Kevin Lapka, OF, Lane Tech, 2018
6-foot-1, 185-pound, long-limbed, athletically built, right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.02 runner in the 60, laser-timed. Offensively, balanced, slightly open setup, smooth load, leg-lift trigger and maintains balance through contact. Fluid rhythm, loose hands, aggressive swing, present bat speed and looks to pull the ball with authority. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, attacks the ball, fluid footwork, natural outfield actions, soft hands, works through the baseball, quick, clean release. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, accurate throws, topped at 82 mph.

4. Marcus Gholston, OF, Valparaiso (IN), 2018
6-foot-3, 205-pound, wide-shouldered, athletically built, left-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 6.82 laser-timed 60. At the plate, balanced slightly crouched setup, big loading action and leg-lift timing trigger. Fluid rhythm, loose hands, creates bat speed, flashed quick twitch, lift in swing and pull approach; 79 mph exit velocity. Defensively, attacks, plays through the baseball, crow hop works on-line. Throws from an over-the-top slot, throws carry and clocked at 87 mph.

5. Michael Marseille, SS/OF, Homewood-Flossmoor, 2018
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting SS/OF with an athletic frame, ran the 60 at 6.69. Offensively hits from a slightly open setup. Short leg lift stride with good balance. Short, uphill swing path with fluid rhythm. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively in the infield has fluid footwork, soft hands, and athletic actions. Plays well on the run. Threw 74 mph across the infield. Also took drills in the outfield throwing 81 mph.

6. Bryce Burton, OF/3B, Marmion, 2018
6-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitting OF/3B with a solid frame. Currently ranked No. 149 in the PBR Illinois Class of 2018. Defensively showed off raw arm strength in the infield and the outfield. Long arm action from an over the top slot. Throws showed carry throwing 87 mph from the outfield and 82 mph across the infield. Long exchange with soft hands. Offensively hits from an open setup, leg lift stride with average balance. Pull hitter with fluid rhythm. Consistent hard, line drive contact. Showed strength thru contact with 92 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.06.

7. Drew Komendant, OF, St. Rita, 2018
5-foot-11, 165-pound, long and lean left-handed hitting outfielder. 7.16 runner in the 60, laser-timed. Offensively, open, balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, fluid rhythm and maintains balance through contact. Loose hands, creates whip in swing at times, gap-to-gap approach; 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, works through the baseball, long arm action from a high ¾ slot, accurate arm clocked at 79 mph.

8. Brandon Olion, OF, Champaign Centennial, 2018
6-foot-3, 165-pound, highly-athletic build, projectable, left-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 6.85 laser-timed 60. Offensively, wide setup, smooth load and minimal stride. Fluid rhythm, loose swing, flashes bat speed at times and gap-to-gap approach. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, fluid footwork, works through the baseball, clean exchange. Short arm action from a high ¾ slot, clocked at 80 mph.

9. Justin Rios, OF/LHP, St. Laurence, 2018
5-foot-7, 160-pound, left/left, two-way prospect. At the plate, left-handed hitter, balanced setup, smooth load, short stride and good balance through contact. Loose hands, creates bat speed, stays short to the ball, gap-to-gap approach and makes consistent hard contact; 88 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, athletic outfield actions, quick active feet, attacks the baseball, plays through, soft hands and quick, clean exchange. Throws from a high ¾ slot, clocked at 81 mph from the outfield. 7.38 runner in the 60, laser-timed. Left-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, regular effort throughout. Long arm action, out of a ¾ window. Fastball, arm-side-run, thrown for strikes, 78-81 mph, topped at 82. Feel for a changeup, late arm-side-run and sink, 73-74 mph. Curveball, 1/7 shape, sat 69-71 mph.

10. Sean Hebreard, OF, Plainfield East, 2018
5-foot-10, 155-pound, lean build, right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.03 runner in the 60, laser-timed. At the plate, balanced, open setup, pre-pitch rhythm, short stride and maintains balance through contact. Loose hands, long bat path and gap-to-gap approach; 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, plays through the baseball, soft hands, clean transfer and above-average arm strength from the outfield; throws carry, clocked at 89 mph.

Hunter De La Rosa, RHP/OF/2B, Moline, 2018
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting utility player. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 77-78 mph. Signals for slider but shows downer action at 69-72 mph. Changeup worked 74 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced setup, long stride, with average balance. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.10. Defensively took drills in the outfield and infield, projects best in the outfield. Threw 82 mph from the outfield and 77 mph across the infield.

Adrian Del Valle, OF, Glenbard West, 2018
5-foot-10, 170-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, balanced slightly crouched setup, pre-pitch rhythm and toe-tap stride. 68 mph exit velocity. Defensively, throws from a short, over-the-top arm action, some accuracy, clocked at 82 mph. 7.41 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

Dominic DiLello, OF, Sacred Heart-Griffin, 2018
6-foot-1, 200-pound, solidly built, right-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, open setup, leg-lift trigger and flashed loose hands. Delivery works on-line with regular effort throughout. Fastball sat 84-87 mph. Curveball works mostly 11/5, occasional 12/6, 72-74 mph. Changeup sat 73-74 mph. Chris Heywood, OF/RHP, Glenbrook North, 2018
6-foot, 193-pound, strong build, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, open setup, smooth load, stride varies and average balance through contact. Uphill bat path through the hitting zone, pull approach and 80 mph exit velocity. In the outfield, arm works short and loose from a high ¾ slot; topped out at 78 mph. 7.40 runner in the 60. Jason Hrabe, OF, Oak Lawn, 2018

Evan Jordan, OF/RHP, Champaign Centennial, 2018

Riley Mindock, OF/RHP, Kennedy, 2018
6-foot-2, 148-pound, lanky, two-way prospect. Ran a 7.16 laser-timed 60. Closed setup, short stride and opposite field approach. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, long arm action from a high ¾ slot, topped out at 74 mph. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, works slightly across his body and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 70-73 mph, topped at 75. Curveball, gradual 12/6 shape, ranged between 56-62 mph. Changeup, thrown near fastball arm speed, 63-66 mph.

Daniel Ojeda, 1B/OF, Pritzker College Prep, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting 1B/OF. Ran the 60 at 7.37. Offensively balanced setup, quick leg lift stride. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Took drills in both the infield and the outfield. Long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Crow hop throws. Threw 70 mph across the infield and 72 mph from the outfield.

Jordan O’Neal, OF, Bradley-Bourbonnais, 2018

Fastball works straight, 76-78 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 67-68 mph. Changeup, sinking action, 68-70 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride and finishes on balance. Jack Van Vooren, LHP/OF, Homestead (WI), 2018
6-foot-3, 190-pound, strong build, left/left, two-way prospect. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm and easy effort throughout. Long arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball sinking action down in the zone, 73-76 mph. Curveball, thrown for strikes, 1/7 shape, 61-64 mph. Changeup worked straight, ranged between 61-64 mph. At the plate, left-handed hitter, closed, taller setup and short stride. Pull approach at the plate, 81 mph exit velocity. Alex Van Witzenburg, OF, Crystal Lake Central, 2018
