On Wednesday, February 23rd, the PBR Illinois staff traveled to the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, IL., to host the fifth annual Peoria Preseason ID. This open event provided our staff an opportunity for an up-to-date look on players from the Central Illinois area prior to the start of the high school season.

The top arm of the event was LHP Landen Patton (Sangamon Valley, 2024). The 5-foot-11, 176-pound, lef-thander has upside stuff with a projectable, loose and quick arm that plays from a low slot. Patton’s fastball is lively out of the hand with late hop through the zone and his 82-83 mph seems to play much firmer due to his above-average extension and 21.4 average inches of induced vertical break. Patton also showed a swing-and-miss breaking ball in the low 70s and feel for a changeup as well. He emerged as a left-handed arm to keep close tabs on moving forward.
