PBR Illinois Player of the Week: Dillon Head
May 17, 2023
To no one's surprise, Dillon Head (2023) has been dominating in all aspects this spring, and this week was no different. The Clemson commit hit his way to an impressive 10-for-15 clip with three doubles, five RBIs, five runs scored and five stolen bases. For his efforts, Head has been named this week’s Player of the Week.
Head started his week by helping the Vikings to a 12-2 victory over Bolingbrook, where he went a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases.

Moving on to Wednesday, Head went 2-for-2 with an RBI, run scored, walk and two stolen bases in a 15-11 victory over De La Salle. The following day, Head recorded two more hits to finish 2-for-5, also collecting two doubles, two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Head finished off his week by hitting to a 2-for-4 clip in a 4-3 loss to St. Rita.
On the season, Head is hitting an eye-opening .506 with six home runs, two triples, 10 doubles, 23 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
Currently the No. 1 ranked player in the state, No. 23 in the country, Head brings a number of game-changing tools to the table. His left-handed swing is athletic with all kinds of quick-twitch, and developing strength, that works primarily to the gaps, allowing his speed to take over and cause all sorts of havoc for opposing teams on the base-paths. He has sneaky pop in his bat, as shown by his six home runs so far this season, and we can expect his power to only tick up as he continues to get more physical. The separator for Head is his aforementioned speed, as he routinely turns in sub-4.00 home to first times and swipes bases with ease. His speed only adds to his defensive capabilities, as he patrols the outfield with an ultra-quick first step, long/athletic strides that gain ground in the gaps and efficient/accurate reads. He also boasts and arm that can reach into the low 90s from the outfield. Finding a player this well-rounded is hard to come by at the high school level, and it is no surprise whatsoever that he is predicted to hear his name called within the first two days of the upcoming draft, with some sources even giving him first-round potential.
Scouting Report
Clemson commit. Currently the No. 1 ranked prospect in Illinois, No. 23 nationally. Ultra-athletic, 6-foot, 180-pound frame, round shoulders with a developed lower-half, present strength with room to add on more as he continues to mature. Started in center field and hit out of the leadoff spot, finished the day 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. The left-handed hitter has a loose/athletic swing, staying short and direct to the ball with an aggressive approach in this look, going after the first couple pitches in his at-bats consistently. He has game-changing speed, jumping out of the box almost immediately after contact and is always looking to take the extra base, stealing two bags in this look while also recording a 4.13 down the line on a turn. Elite defender in the outfield with ulta-quick jumps, covering ground with ease. He boasts confidence and smooth actions to pair with a high-level arm, playing with back-spin and accuracy to his targets with clear life out of the hand. High-level 2023 draft follow.
