Illinois Lockport Preseason I.D.: Top Overall Prospects

On Monday, Feb. 17, the PBR Illinois team made its annual trip to the Bo Dome to host the Lockport Preseason I.D., the largest showcase on our calendar. Over two-hundred prospects participated, representing every high school level.
Soon following the event we released early analysis with our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis. Throughout the week we’ve been rolling out position-by-position analysis from this event that started with the day’s catchers and took us through the outfielders, infielders, and pitchers. We’re concluding our event coverage today, by ranking the top 15 prospects from the event.

Evan Clark LHP / Fenwick, IL / 2021
Positional Profile: LHP; Emerged as a 2021 arm to follow moving forward. Body: 6-foot, 160-pounds. Lean, well-proportioned frame. Delivery: Stretch only, drop and drive delivery, regular effort and some rhythm throughout. Arm Action: LH. Long and loose arm action from a 3/4 angle. Quick arm speed. FB: T89, 85-87 mph. arm-side-run and hard action. Ball jumps out the hand. CB: 70-72 mph. Maintains arm speed, 1/7 shape with gradual action. SL: 71-73 mph. 12/6 shape with tight spin and gradual action. CH: 73-75 mph. Plays with arm-side-run and solide fade action.

Positional Profile: RHP; Emerged as a high-follow unsigned senior arm. Body: 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. Strong, barrel-chested frame. Delivery: Uptempo, tall and fall delivery, high-front side, directional and lands square. Arm Action: RH. Long, clean and quick from an over-the-top slot. FB: T91, 85-89 mph. Clean out of the hand, life through the zone, works mainly straight with occasional tilt. CB: 75-79 mph. Maintains arm speed, tight spin, feel, late 10/4 action. CH: 81-85 mph. Thrown aggressively, feel, late run and sink.

Positional Profile: 3B; Quickly emerging as one of the top bats in Illinois' 2024 class. Body: 6-foot, 185-pounds. Physical, strong frame. Hit: LHH. Balanced setup, smooth load, hands stay back in strong hitting position, short stride. Loose, athletic hands, extension through contact, easy gap-to-gap power at the plate, fluid rhythm throughout. Power: 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Short, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot. Defense: Corner infield profile; patient to the baseball, hands play under center of body. Run: 7.71 runner in the 60.

Positional Profile: SS; An advanced defender that can stick up the middle moving forward. Body: 6-foot, 170-pounds. Wiry, athletic frame. Hit: RHH. Balanced, open setup, leg kick trigger, aggressive through contact. Uphill path to the baseball, creates extension through contact, gap-to-gap approach at the plate, consistent hard contact. Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Arm: RH. INF - 88 mph. Short, loose arm action, lively arm, high 3/4 slot. Well above-average arm strength, throws produced carry across the diamond.
