This week, On the Hunt looks at a group of 2022 players that have exhibited plenty of upside early on in their high school careers. Players on the list come from Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio.

Nate Voss C / 3B / Marist, IL / 2022

Voss’ athleticism stands out as a player who can play multiple positions well, and it should help him to develop even quicker moving forward. Wiry-thin at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with plenty of room to continue filling out, he showcased solid hands on the infield before hopping behind the plate at a preseason PBR Illinois event. His nimbler footwork on the infield carried over behind the plate where he produced pop-times between 1.97-2.05, and that range will likely continue to get better as his quick arm develops more strength in the future. A right-handed hitter, Voss starts open, loading his hands smoothly down and back with a slight leg hang. The barrel works quickly to the ball on a flat path as his strong wrists provide for gap to gap power as he aggressively attacks the ball while remaining balanced. Given his projectable frame and the overall athleticism that he exhibits, expect Voss to potentially make a significant jump in the future as he adds more strength.
