Preseason All-State: Preview

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

On Saturday, January 15th,
PBR Georgia hosts its annual Preseason All-State showcase, bringing together the state’s top talent from across all classes. For the second consecutive year, Preseason All-State will be held at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Ga. Presently, over 100 prospects are set to join us on Saturday, and we will spend time today highlighting some of those headed to LakePoint.

For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we will have on-side to assist our in-person evaluation, click here. For a complete look at the roster, click here.

THIS SATURDAY
Committed Players

The top ranked 2023 shortstop in the country, Dylan Cupp (Cedartown; Mississippi State) will be amongst the participants at Preseason All-State. Cupp needs little introduction as he has been at or near the top of the rankings since they debuted almost 2 ½ years ago. The slick fielding right-handed hitter continues to trend upwards as he matures. He is a complete player, and will surely show it at LakePoint on Saturday.

2025 OF Cannon Goldin (Buford; South Carolina) is the state’s top ranked position player. A high level athlete, Goldin can fly around the diamond. He profiles as a top of the order bat with advanced barrel control from the left-side.

A top-10 prospect in the state’s 2024 class, C/RHP Ariston Veasey (Starr’s Mill; Georgia) is also heading to Preseason All-State. Veasey has one of the strongest arms in the class, both behind the plate and on the mound. A right-handed hitter, he continues to fill out his 6-foot, 175-pound frame. The added strength has paid dividends at the plate, as Veasey can punish the ball with aggression.

Future Games Alumni

Joining us as alum of the prestigious PBR Future Games are 2022 OF/RHP Luke Boone (Richmond Hill; Georgia State), 2023 OF Zach Lyles (Sonoraville; Western Kentucky) and 2023 SS/RHP Payton Doyle (North Paulding).

Boone has always stood out for his immense power at the plate. He put it on full display at the 2020 PBR Future Games with a towering home run. At 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, the right-handed hitter has produced some of the hardest contact we have seen at LakePoint. Don’t let the size fool you through, Boone can move with sub 7.00 speed.

Hailing from Team Georgia at the 2021 PBR Future Games, Lyles stands out for a smooth left-handed swing. A predominately pull-side hitter, Lyles has shown the ability to battle and get his pitch time and time again. Although Doyle represented Georgia as a pitcher only, look for him to have a breakout performance at shortstop and at the plate.

Uncommitted Players

The top ranked 2022 in attendance, LHP Dawson Coe (Loganville) is the No. 5 ranked southpaw in the state. Coe can work his fastball into the low 90s and spin a sharp sweeping breaking ball. He will be a major add to any program at the next level, and could have an immediate impact.

1B/3B Michael Carswell Jr. (Woodward Academy) is a power bat still on the market in the 2022 class. Carswell is a physical, 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder. He is very capable of putting on a show tomorrow, with his powerful swing.

If you are looking for young talent, this event should have your attention. The depth of talent that will be represented in the 2024 and 2025 class tomorrow is noteworthy. Check out the complete roster here.
