PBR Georgia Player of the Week: OF Andre Tarver
March 5, 2019
Andre Tarver is far from an unknown commodity. The Ringgold senior represented Georgia in Chicago last summer at the prestigious Under Armour All-America Game and is the No. 1-ranked outfielder in the state’s 2019 class – ranked No. 5 overall. He’s also ranked No. 96 on the PBR Draft 100, and is off to a scintillating start this spring.
For a Ringgold team that just earned a mention this week for appearing On The Bubble of the GA Power 25, Tarver is doing a lot of the heavy lifting from the batter’s box. The Tigers are 7-2 in the early going, and have won five of six – including four Ws last week.
Tarver was at the smackdab center of the action throughout Ringgold’s 4-1 run, with wins over Ridgeland, Heritage, and two over Northwest Whitfield. The Mississippi State-committed outfielder lit it up all week long, and was a staggering 13-for-18 at the plate. Of those 13 hit amassed, five went for extra bases – four doubles and a home run – and Tarver stepped on home plate a grand total of 13 times throughout the week. He’s also recorded three hits in three straight contests, and counting.
The left/left corner outfield prospect is a physical specimen, standing in at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds. And Tarver also knows how to put together an at-bat and can definitely handle himself in the outfield grass.
As Ringgold prepares for one of its biggest tests of the season, a match-up with No. 15-ranked Redan on Thursday, Tarver is fixed on being at the center of the action once again. The Tigers’ star outfielder is our choice for the latest PBR Georgia Player of the Week honor.
