LakePoint Rising Stars: Quick Hits
June 2, 2023
Emerson, GA - The LakePoint Rising Stars I.D. was held on Wednesday, May 31st at LakePoint Sports. This event consisted of prospects from the 2027-2028 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.
Kicking off our post-event coverage for these events, we take a look back at some of the top performers and standouts from the event. Continuing over the course of the next week or so, we will release Statistical Leaderboards for the event, along with our scouting reports.

+ Matthew Westbrook, RHP, 2027, Alexander HS
6-foot-1, 175-pound strong frame with some maturity for his age. Confident on the mound, looks comfortable and in control at all times. ¾ circle arm swing from a ¾ slot. Some crossfire action as he throws, tough to pick up as a hitter. FB up to 84 with a tight, solid CB at 70.

Good looking young player. Level & direct path through the zone, stays on plane well with fluidity throughout. High follow.@PisgahBaseball pic.twitter.com/RXOUPEj0YG
+ Max Maher, 2028, SS, Walton HS
Athletic frame at 5-7, 140-pounds, no where close to full physical development. Nice stretch of the hands as he loads, then crashes all at once into the baseball with force. Downward plane in swing, looking to spray liners around the ballpark in any location. Quick bat speed, high follow.

5-foot-7 150-pounds. One of the top athletes of the day. Showed all the right actions in the field with a clean arm action, and smooth defensive ability. At the plate he sprayed balls all over the field with an effortless load, and strong finish.

One of the top athletes of the day. Mature frame with all the right actions in the field. Clean arm action w/ 7.06 60-yard dash. #LPRisingStars pic.twitter.com/1n0CXAAcFJ
5-foot-4 125-pounds. The final hitter of the event showed some pull side pop with a short stocky frame. He has a really strong lower half and also showed well in the field. He generates a ton of power and momentum on the swing. He will be one to follow in the years to come at 4A powerhouse North Oconee.

Final bat of the day put on a show from the left side. Nearly had 3 or 4 leave the yard. One of the smoothest infield performances of the event. #LPRisingStars pic.twitter.com/jYBpDG6oBp
5-foot-7 150-pounds. Switch hitting shortstop with all the right tools. Will be a really fun player to watch down the road. Has gap to gap power from both sides of the plate, with more pop to the pull side. Effortless defender with a clean arm action.
