Winter Haven Handles Auburndale 7-1

Last night, the Winter Haven Blue Devils traveled across town to take on the Auburndale Bloodhounds in what ended up being a contest that was handled by Winter Haven from start to finish.

2016 OF Rouglas Odor led off the game for the Blue Devils with a walk and was able to reach second on a stolen base. After being moved over to third on a groundball, Odor was driven in on a groundout by 2016 RHP/INF Dustin Baber. Winter Haven held the Bloodhounds in the bottom half of the first to hold onto a 1-0 lead.

In the second inning, 2016 RHP/3B Tobias Myers reached base on a walk and was later driven in on a sharp line drive single to right field by 2016 OF Damon Irvis. In the bottom half, 2018 RHP/1B Hunter Morales was able to strike out the side for Winter Haven, helping solidify their 2-0 lead.

In the third and fourth innings, the Blue Devils were able to tack on three more runs that really gave Morales a nice cushion. 2018 OF/INF Kobie Leonard led off the third with a double to right-center and was later driven in by Odor who lined a single to left-center. Later in the frame, 2016 1B Bryce Giles walked, stole second, and ended up being driven in a groundout to shortstop by 2017 1B/OF Doug Hawsey. The fifth run of the game for Winter Haven came in the fourth inning when Myers reached on another walk and was cashed in on a sacrifice bunt by 2017 C Wilmer Martinez.

After a scoreless fifth inning, the Bloodhounds were able to break up the no-hitter and shutout in the bottom of the sixth. 2017 INF Kyle Panico led off the inning with a line drive double down the left field line and later scored on a bases loaded-walk. Unfortunately for Auburndale, that was the only run they could accumulate and the Blue Devils were able to pick up another two runs in the seventh on an RBI bunt single by 2017 C/INF Jacob Owens, and another RBI single by Irvis.
