Orlando, FL—The Olympia Titans jumped out to an early lead in the second inning on a leadoff double by 2016 1B Johnny Levin, followed by a Joaquin Estrada single. An errant throw and a single by 2018 SS Alex Marrero, put the Titans up 2-1. But they were unable to hold on and lost 12-2 to Haines City on Monday.
While Olympia led until the fourth inning, Haines City worked its way back and took the lead on a three-run home run by 2017 1B Jose Calderon. Haines City went up for good in the fourth, scoring nine runs on two errors, a three-run home run by Calderon, and two singles.
2016 RHP Edwin Serrano (Haines City HS, FL) got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered three hits. Haines City was sparked by 2018 C Rafael Reyes, 2017 3B Angel Colon and Calderon, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.
2016 RHP Aaron Bogovic (Olympia HS, FL) was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out four.
