Updated and Expanded Florida Class of 2020 Rankings Released

With the summer nearing the end and the PBR Future Games coming up in two weeks, it’s time to make an update to the Florida Class of 2020 Rankings. This class features not only high-end talent at the top but plenty of depth as well as 44 of the first 50 ranked players have already committed to play somewhere at the next level. This update also features the rankings expanding to 175 players.
While RHP Victor Mederos remains in the top spot, there has been some shakeup in the Top 5 as RHP Carson Montgomery has made a jump from the No. 16 spot all the way up to No. 3. Montgomery has been on the rise this summer and has recently been in the low to mid 90s with his fastball along with a plus slider.
Below are reports and video on the Top 5 along with a look at how the Top 10 shakes out:
Victor Mederos RHP / SS / Pace, FL / 2020Miami recruit. Looks to have filled out especially in the lower half. He has a big, strong arm and a lot of life on the fastball early. He works 90-93, touching 94 mph with tilt and late life. He also flashes a hard slider at 80-82 mph. The arm is electric and shows a plus fastball and slider. Also displays a changeup at 83-85 mph. Overall the arm works and possesses present plus stuff with a high ceiling.

Dylan Crews OF / C / Lake mary, FL / 2020Louisiana State recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot, 173 pounds with a lean, athletic frame. Offensively, he commands the batter’s box with a quick and powerful swing to all fields with more power to come as he continues to fill out his frame. The present hit tool is plus and consistently finds the barrel. He also shows above average power and could develop into plus power. From the outfield, he fields the ball out in front and under control with accuracy to his targets. Feel for the game is extremely high with an advanced toolset and extremely high upside.

Carson Montgomery OF / RHP / West Orange, FL / 2020Florida State recruit, Montgomery has really filled out his frame, especially in the lower half and overall has made some huge strides on the mound. Has a clean, quick arm and the fastball sits 90-93 mph touching 94. The slider has shown potential in the past and has now turned into a true plus pitch. Works at 81-84 mph with hard and late breaking with tight spin, coming out of the same tunnel as the fastball. Extremely athletic with still much more to come.

Jackson Miller C / RHP / JW Mitchell, FL / 2020Wake Forest recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds with a strong, athletic frame. Has gotten noticeably more physical in his upper body. Behind the plate Miller really stands out as he shows a quality setup with soft hands and a quick, clean transfer. All his throws to the bag are on line and accurate, topping out at 81 mph with pop times ranging from 1.88-1.93 seconds. Offensively, he has an advanced approach from the left side where he displays present pull-side pop and a feel for the barrel with hard, solid contact. Displays good instincts with ad advanced feel for the game behind the plate.

Jordan Carrion SS / RHP / American Heritage, FL / 2020Florida recruit. Continues to fill out with room to continue to do so. On multiple occasions, has shown his plus defensive abilities, ranging both glove and hand side. He has an above average arm and natural instincts for the position. The hands are soft and works with confidence while showing the ability to get rid of the ball quickly when needed. Offensively, the path is level and stays in the zone with above average bat speed and shows gap-to-gap potential. Has been in the high 80s, touched 90 mph on the mound with his fastball with a feel for the slider at 70-72 mph, showing the ability to throw it at any time in the count and for strikes.
