Uncommitted Spotlight: 2023 Augie Mojica

This spring we will be highlighting players throughout the state with Uncommitted Spotlights. We will highlight one 2022, 2023, and 2024 player each week looking for a school to call home. The state of Florida is full of uncommitted players who have the talent to play at the next level. These players deserve as much exposure as they can get in order to help them find the right home.
Today, we will highlight 2023 Augie Mojica. Augie is a 6-foot-2, 165 pound right hander from A3 Academy in Tampa, FL. Outside of high school, Augie plays travel ball with the TBT Swarm. Augie is a high spin right hander who gets into the high 2600 rpms with his fastball and slider. Has been up to 91 and should make a few more jumps as he continues to add strength to his frame. Every time we've seen Augie pitch at showcases or tournaments, he goes deep into games and puts together quality start after quality start. A high upside arm with present arm talent to like.

Scouting Report
6-foot-2, 165-pound athletic frame. Solid projectable on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle and a long arm action with quick arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Balance is tall point with an even shoulders in his delivery. Lands open with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 83-86 mph and topped out at 87 mph; showed hard running action and command around the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2673; Avg 2427). Had in the zone control and deceiving fading action on his sharp changeup (78-79). Threw a tight slider (72-75) that showed down in the zone control and swing and miss action. (Max spin 2694; Avg 2549).
