Gulf Coast Scouting Buzz: LSU & Tulane

The 2020 College Baseball season is just around the corner and Fall Games are a great way to get a look at the talent for the season and upcoming MLB Draft. This past weekend the Louisiana Scouting Staff headed to Baton Rouge on Friday night to catch LSU’s Fall World Series, and then headed down to New Orleans to catch a Fall matchup between Tulane and South Alabama.
Today we start with draft-eligible players and future draft-eligible players, who caught our eye.
TULANE
Hudson Haskin, OF (2020)
Athletic sophomore with a 6-foot-2, 198-pound frame and a strong, lean build. First-Team Freshmen All-American selection in 2019, finished the year hitting .372 with 19 doubles, 10 home runs, and 52 RBI. Corner outfielder with solid range and an average, accurate arm. Plus athlete, plus runner showed a 4.19 home-to-first time and several 4.4 turns. Right-handed hitter hits from a tall setup, loading into a squatted, wide hitting position with a longer stride step, lands in a strong position, hits against a strong front side generating strength at contact and solid bat speed. Hands work close to the body, for a more compact path, can get a little rotational at times but generated quality contact with advanced hand-eye and bat to ball skills. Had three hits on the day going 3-for-7 with a sac fly and a double late in the contest.
