The Spring High School season is in full swing as we closely approach the end of March. The top of the 2022 class in Florida is extremely talented with 3 potential first rounders in the 2022 Draft in OF Elijah Green and LHPs Brandon Barriera and Jackson Ferris. Green continues to be a 5-tool talent in center field and in the conversation for 1:1 this summer. Barriera and Ferris are two of the top high school arms in this year’s Draft both running the fastball in the mid/upper 90’s with above average/plus secondary stuff.

4, 5, and 6 in Florida also remain the same since our last update. The state’s top catching prospect Brady Neal remains at No. 4. RHP Walter Ford slides in at 5 and 3B Sal Stewart at 6.

The first movement in this update comes at No. 7 with C Luke Heyman. A Florida commit from Lake Brantley, Heyman displays a short, quick approach to the ball resulting in plenty of hard batted balls to all fields. Heyman continues to make jumps in the right direction and has established himself as one of the top catching prospects in the 2022 class. Heyman has natural power to all fields with a plus arm behind the plate making him a top Draft follow throughout the rest of the spring.

Another riser this Spring has been RHP Jake Clemente. A Florida commit from Stoneman Douglas, Clemente has made a big jump adding strength to his frame and now running his fastball up to 97 mph. Clemente compliments the fastball with a hard sweeping slider that can be a strikeout pitch. The arm strength continues to impress as Clemente has established himself as a high follow Draft arm. Clemente jumps to No. 8 in these rankings.
