The Spring season is underway and we are inching closer to the 2020 MLB Draft. This Florida 2020 class is loaded with talent and new names continue to find their way on the draft radar. The 2020 Florida Rankings have been updated and for the first time in over a year, we have a new No. 1.

OF Zac Veen (Spruce Creek, Florida) has been a huge riser on these rankings over the last year, and has now established himself as the top high school prospect in the state of Florida, as well as the entire country. Veen has an athletic 6-foot-4, 190 pound frame with a tremendous hit tool and power potential. He showed off these tools at the Preseason Classic with loud contact and looked comfortable in the box against velos up to 97 mph.

RHP Carson Montgomery (Windermere, Florida State) stays at the No. 2 spot in these rankings, but jumped into the top ten of our national rankings.  The 6-foot-2, 208 pound right-hander added some lean muscle to his frame, and has the making of a front-line starter in the big leagues. With his fastball in the mid 90’s, a plus slider, and feel for a changeup, Montgomery could see himself come off the board early in June.

OF Dylan Crews (Lake Mary, LSU) takes a slight dip in these rankings after holding the No. 1 spot for over a year. The 6-foot, 195 pound outfielder has a short, simple stroke and seems to always find hard line drive contact. Look for Crews to boost his draft stock with a strong spring season.

Rounding out our top five are LHP Timmy Manning (Cardinal Gibbons, Florida) and RHP Victor Mederos (Westminster Christian, Miami). Manning started his high school season like no other by striking out 16 in a complete game no-hitter. Mederos is known for his plus fastball which was up to 97 mph at the Preseason Classic.
