Tampa, FL- On August 25-26th one of the top organizations in the state, Baseball University, held their 2018 Fall Tryouts for players in the 2019-2022 classes. Players participated in bullpens and a pro-style workout on Saturday followed by games on Sunday.

Below are 15 standouts from the tryouts with full report along with several video highlights from throughout the weekend:

Daniel Bernstein C / Sickles, FL / 2019

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 210 pounds with a solid, physical frame and strong lower half. Was one of the top performers throughout the weekend as he not only impressed behind the plate, but offensively as well. Behind the plate he shows strong hands and receives well while keeping everything in front of him, deadening pitches in the dirt. Throws to the bag are accurate and on line, topping out at 78 mph with pop times ranging from 1.92-2.01 seconds. Offensively, he shows strength throughout his swing with a level to uphill finish, driving the ball with authority. The ball jumps off the bat and creates hard contact every time he squares it up. During gameplay he crushed a ball deep over the left field wall for a home run that easily went 400+ feet. Also registered a 97 mph exit velocity in the cage. Bernstein was a big winner on the weekend and shouldn’t be uncommitted for too long as a catcher that shows present power at the plate with solid defensive ability behind it.

Justin Turk OF / 2B / Steinbrenner, FL / 2019

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds with a lean, athletic frame and shows athletic, quick twitch actions all over the field. Above average speed with shows with his 60 time that ranges in the 6.4-6.5 seconds range. On the basepaths he creates a great amount of pressure on the pitcher as he gets aggressive leads, good jumps, and reads the pitcher well. Rarely gets thrown out attempting to steal a bag and usually ends up on third after a couple pitches one he reaches first base. From the outfield he shows a quick first step with accurate throws to the bag that topped out at 87 mph. Offensively, he shows above average bat speed with a whippy swing through the zone that finds the barrel often, driving the ball into the gaps. Any ball hit into the gaps turns into an extra base hit for Turk. Also registered a 93 mph exit velocity in the cage. Turk shows a few above average tools and should be a strong follow for the rest of the fall for any program looking to add an athletic outfielder at the top of the order.

Sebastian Greico 1B / 3B / Gaither, FL / 2019

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with a tall, projectable build. Offensively, he starts from a tall and upright stance and shows quick hands through the zone with an uphill finish from the left side of the plate. During batting practice he showed some pull side pop and the ability to drive the ball deep into the right-center field gap. During gameplay he drove a ball over the first baseman's head for a line drive single. Defensively, he shows solid actions around first.

Jac Caglianone Jr. 1B / LHP / Plant, FL / 2021

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-5, 168 pounds with a long, loose, projectable frame. Plenty of room to fill out. Stood out offensively throughout the weekend where he showed an advanced approach from the left side with quick hands, and above average bat speed through the zone. Gap-to-gap power potential. At times can get a little long with his swing, but when he stays direct to the ball, he barrels it up. During gameplay he showed patience and the ability to sit back on the breaking ball which is shown in the video below, driving the ball over the centerfielder’s head for a double. With the frame and the approach he shows at the plate, expect to see several jumps in gap-to-gap power from Caglianone Jr.
