2021 Senior State Games: Quick Hits

The 2021 Senior State Games took place Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, FL. The event featured players from the 2022 class representing their region of North, South, East, and West Florida participating in a pro-style workout followed by 3 total games per region in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.
The weekend was full of talent from all 4 regions, but the South finished at the top going 3-0 throughout the event. Today, we will break down some of the standouts from this weekend’s action in a Quick Hits article. Take a look at the biggest standouts from each region.
Aiden Butler RHP / North Florida Christian, FL / 2022Tall, lanky right hander at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds threw 4 scoreless for the North on Sunday. Not overpowering with the fastball up to 83 mph but was able to keep hitters off balanced and generate soft contact. 4 shutout innings allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts. Uncommitted.

Ethan Grover RHP / 1B / Liberty County, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 341 / POS: 82
Grover impressed in relief for the North on Sunday. Princeton commit has a funky delivery and hides the ball well making each AB tough for hitters. Fastball up to 90 that gets onto you quickly. Struck out 2 in 3 innings of work allowing 2 runs.

Jackson Hiatt 1B / RHP / Pensacola Catholic, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 173 / POS: 11
Hiatt impressed on both days at the Senior State Games. Projectable 6-foot-5, 215 pound frame. Put together three impressive BP rounds showing big time power to the pull side gap with exit velos up to 99.38 mph. Hiatt batted .500 in the 3 games with 3 total hits including a double and 2 RBI. Bradley Hodges LHP / OF / St. Johns Country Day, FL / 2022Virginia commit dominated in his start on Sunday vs the West. Up to 90 from the left side, throwing all pitches for strikes. Hodges would go 3 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on just 2 hits with 8 strikeouts.

Mason Jantomaso C / 3B / Winter Haven, FL / 2022Jantomaso swung the bat well over the weekend for the North. Batted .600 in the three game span with a backside double to the left field warning track. Uncommitted.

UNF commit impressed with his athleticism at short during the workout and gameplay. Started by running a 6.87 60 time. Showed above average hands and arm at short up to 92 mph. Drove a double for an RBI in game as well.

Jordan Logsdon LHP / LHP / Lincoln, FL / 2022Tall, lanky left hander at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds threw 3 shutout innings for the North. Topped 83 with the fastball and pitched effectively to contact. 3 innings, no runs, 1 hit, 2 strikeouts.

Hayden Perry C / Episcopal, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 147 / POS: 17
Samford commit. Perry continues to be an above average defender behind the plate. 1.93-2.02 pop times in the workout. Offensively, had a top exit velo of 99 mph and translated to the game with multiple hard hits. Perry batted .500 over the weekend.

Max Williams OF / 1B / Clay, FL / 2022Alabama commit showed well during Saturday’s workout with an above average arm up to 93 from the outfield and 89 in the infield. Produced loud contact in bp with a top exit velo of 101.8 mph. Williams also batted .500 in the 3 games.

Bauer showed off his plus speed all weekend running a 6.57 60 time and beating out multiple ground balls. Was a constant threat on the basepaths and batted .333 in the 3 games. Uncommitted.

Jameson Caro OF / Miami Christian , FL / 2022Caro was an extra base hit machine over the weekend. Started in the workout showing an above average arm up to 92 mph and an exit velocity of 97.9 mph. In game batted .500 over the weekend with 2 doubles, a triple, and 3 RBI. Uncommitted.

Kentucky commit. Fawley really impressed in Saturday’s showcase workout. Showed a plus arm from behind the plate up to 83 mph with pop times of 1.93-2.01. Exit velo up to 94.8 mph in BP.

Jayden Hylton 1B / OF / Palm Beach Gardens, FL / 2022Stetson commit. Hylton put his big time power on display at the Senior State Games. Exit velo up to 102.32 mph showing power to all fields. Just missed a home run in game but still collected 2 hits and an RBI.

Wake Forest commit. Physical middle infielder showed off his tools on both sides over the weekend. Above average hands defensively with an above average arm up to 90 mph. Offensively, attacked both gaps with loud contact and the top exit velo of the event up to 104.55 mph. In game, collected 2 hard base hits and an RBI.

Eddie-Boe Rodriguez SS / 2B / Island Coast, FL / 2022FSW commit. Athletic middle infielder really impressed defensively making tough plays up the middle look easy. Up to 88 mph from short. In game, collected multiple hard base hits and scored a run.

Alex Walsh LHP / OF / Oxbridge Academy, FL / 2022Texas Tech commit. Walsh really impressed in his start on Saturday. 4 shutout innings on just 2 hits allowed. Fastball sat 88-90 from the left side and showed a wipeout slider. 7 strikeouts over the 4 inning span.
