August 13, 2018
Saturday, July 28th at Alex Rodriguez Park at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, the top high school prospects ranging from the 2019-2022 classes participated in the 2018 Florida All-State Games. The 2018 Florida All-State Games featured draft talent, numerous Division 1 recruits, and some of the top uncommitted underclassman in the state.
Irving Carter RHP / 1B / Calvary Christian Academy, FL / 2021Miami recruit. Physical, athletic, durable frame standing at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds. Overpowered the three hitters he faced in his inning of work where he struck out two. Fastball sat 88-90 mph, touching 91 while mixing in an 85-86 mph cutter, 71 -72 mph curveball, and a 74-75 mph changeup. He has a powerful presence on the mound and overall a very advanced feel for pitching for his class. He repeats with present athleticism and real arm talent. High ceiling and one of the top pitchers in his class nationally. |
Bryce Einstein RHP / Canterbury, FL / 2019Rankings StateRank: 169 / POS: 44
Lipscomb recruit. Long, lanky, tall frame standing at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds. Still room to fill out. Drops down and throws out of the low ¾ to sidearm slot, creating plenty of deception and tough angles on hitters, especially right handers. Knows how to keep the ball low and away, his off speed stuff has late movement. Induced multiple weak fly outs during his time on the mound. Fastball mostly sat in the 75-77 mph range along with a 66-67 mph breaking ball that showed slurvy action, tailing out of the zone along with a 73-74 mph changeup that showed sink. Einstein has continually shown at multiple events now the ability to keep hitters off balance and get outs. Should be a able to make an impact at the next level out of the bullpen. |
Adiel Melendez LHP / 1B / Mater Lakes Academy, FL / 2020Uncommitted, the 5-foot-11, 175 pound left handed pitcher has a lean and athletic frame. He has a loose, live arm and uses a full arm swing and works from a 3/4 slot. The fastball worked 76-80 mph and worked down to both sides of the plate. As he learns to use his lower half more, the arm is clean and works freely and should see a jump. Showed a curveball that when his fingers were on top had depth at 64-67 mph and a changeup at 77 mph Overall, the arms works and should make some jumps going forward. |
Jonathan Rodriguez RHP / Archbishop McCarthy, FL / 2019Long, lanky and lean at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. He features an up-tempo delivery, with a full arm swing that works long to short. There is a lot of moving parts that can be difficult to sync up at extension and repeat. Working from a high 3/4 slot, the fastball ranged from 78-79 mph. Also, showed a curveball at 60-62 and a changeup at 72-74 mph. Can cause some deception, but would improve with more consistent release. Athletic with some potential. |
Miguel Rosado RHP / Chaminade-Madonna, FL / 2020Uncommitted, 6-foot-1, 210 pounds. He has clean mechanics and showed the ability to repeat. He has a clean and on time separation which helped him get to extension consistently and show the ability to command a fastball down in the zone to his glove side at 80-82 mph. He stays on time and shows feel for all three pitches. The curveball ranged from 67-68 and the changeup from 73-74 mph. Overall, mechanically and feel to pitch is well above average and will see how the body continues to mature, as there is feel and ability. |
Dylan Adams RHP / 3B / Windermere Prep, FL / 2019Uncommitted, with a physical 6-foot-2, 190 pounds that has continued to fill out. He is mechanically sound,, lands in the line and works with a clean high 3/4 slot. The fastball ranged from form 80-82 mph and can see a jump with added extension. Showed a feel for a straight changeup at 70 mph. Worked down in the zone and changed speed, striking out five batters in two innings of work. |
Raul Alvarez RHP / Mater Lakes Academy, FL / 2019A lean and athletic right hander stands at 6-foot-, 180 pounds. With the athletic frame, he lands in line, but the late rotational action has him falling off glove side late. As he continues to improve being consistently directional with a stronger front side, he should see some jumps from the 80-82 mph fastball. The curveball was his best offspeed pitch, which he showed ability to spin at 72 mph. |
Juan Marulanda RHP / Keys Gate Charter, FL / 2018ASA Miami recruit, the stocky right-hander stands at 5-foot-10, 177 pounds. Simple wind up with a higher leg kick before his delivery. Shows some extension out in front and works downhill. Fastball mostly worked at 84-85 mph down in the zone along with a 66-67 mph curveball, throwing it for strikes while mixing in a 78-79 mph slider that showed depth. Showed a feel for his three pitches and mixed it up well. Struck out four in his two innings of work. |
Matthew Varela RHP / OF / Hialeah-Miami Lakes, FL / 2020Uncommitted, standing at 6-foot, 180 pounds. He has a stocky frame with strength in the lower half. Uses the strong lower half well, driving down the mound to extension. There is some rotational action that gets him offline at times and could improve the pace, but the fastball has some life in the zone and worked 78-82 mph. Showed a short slurve that ranged from 71-73 mph with potential. Would strike out one in his two innings of work. |
