The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the summer circuit is getting underway Prep Baseball California is beginning to highlight some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes ahead of the August, 1st contact date for this class. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. The players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 54 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 RHP/SS Evan Alexander a recent transfer to Harvard Westlake High School. With a wiry athletic frame that has room to continue adding strength to it at a present 6'2 175lbs. and showing tools as both a position player and pitcher. Alexander has been consistently impressive at  Prep Baseball California events in the 2024 calendar including both SoCal Preseason All-State Underclass and the Future Games Tryout: OC. During the workout portion of events Alexander has shown the upside to his skill set across the board as a position player. Starting with a 7.09 second 60 yard dash that includes burst off the line with a 1.54 second 10 yard burst a top run speed of 18.8 MPH. He moves around with solid actions in the INF with some rhythm to his footwork/glove while flashing arm strength at 86 MPH that could stay on the left side of the INF. On the offensive side of the game Alexander shows feel to generate hard contact from the middle to pull side of the field including a peak EV at 90.7 MPH with an average EV at 81.1 MPH with feel for being on the barrel including a 92% sweet spot rate. Alexander is solid position player prospect, but his ability on the mound takes his game to the next level. Showing a FB at 85-87 MPH peaking at 88 MPH with high spin rates (2610 RPM max spin rate/2355 RPM avg spin rate) that plays at the top of the zone (avg between 17.5 and 18.5 inches of IVB on Trackman). Alexander adds a power SLD in the 76-77 MPH range with 2800+ RPM max spin rates while averaging 2600+ RPMs of spin on the SLD which he can throw both for strikes or swing/miss. He rounds out his arsenal with a softer 70-71 MPH CB while flashing an emerging 79-80 MPH CHG with arm side fade to it. Playing on the smaller school level this year Alexander dominated the competition both as a hitter and pitcher. Putting up a .405/.537/.503 slash line with 3 doubles and 1 triple while posting a 1.11 ERA over 44.1 innings punching out 62 hitters. Next year he will test his skills against the ultra competitive Mission League.   With his two-way toolset and upside there is plenty to like about Alexander and as he continues to mature and develop over the course of his final 2 years of high school/travel baseball he will undoubtedly be one for college programs to keep eyes on.
