Norcal Player of the Week: Alex Kendrick

2019 RHP Alex Kendrick of Buhach Colony HS has been named the PBR Northern California Player of the Week for April 15-21. We were on hand all week at the Fresno Easter Classic and saw many outstanding performances as each team played four games. There were many outstanding performances all over the state as players were involved in numerous other tournaments. However, being in the stands as Kendrick spun his gem was too hard for us to ignore.

In a 7-inning complete game effort Kendrick struck out 7, gave up 4 singles (one hard hit ball), and walked one vs Clovis HS in what was a 9-1 Buhach victory. We previously saw Clovis have a good offensive night vs a talented Jesuit pitching staff so we knew they had a chance vs the hard-throwing Fresno State-bound Kendrick.

It didn't work out that way in this one. Kendrick came out at 90-91 mph, pounding the zone and putting big time pressure on the Clovis hitters. He never let off the gas and just suffocated Clovis. He was up to 92 mph in the 5th inning and finished the game still sitting at 91 mph in the 7th inning. He didn't need to use a single curveball in the game and mixed in just a small handful of change-ups. It was old school country hardball in a tournament that for 50 years has been the epitome of old school country hardball.
