MENLO COLLEGE, ATHERTON, CALIF. - The Northern California Academic Game was stocked with uncommitted players with GPAs to draw attention from highly academic 4-year colleges. The event featured a showcase followed by a simulate 10 inning game, in which pitchers threw to 3-5 batters per inning.

STANDOUTS

2022 GRADS

Shane Callison 2B / OF / Ann Sobrato, CA / 2022 5-foot-8, 165-pounds; LHH; The raw numbers aren't eye popping but watching the ease with which he plays, the INF actions, the smooth athleticisim (6.96 60), and glimpse of bat talent (90 EV) that like all else he does, comes easily, he looks to be the type of player best appreciated over multiple looks at him. 4.35 GPA.

Lucas Marlowe C / 3B / California, CA / 2022 5-foot-10, 190-pounds; RHH, Physical and stout body, showed well in regard to an offensive catcher profile with solid and playable defensive tools. 95 mph EV was one of the top at event, game ABs were strong (2B, E5, +F7), and there is presence in the box. 74 mph catcher arm, pops 2.04, 2.11, 2.14, 2.17.

Tyler Wood RHP / De La Salle, CA / 2022 6-foot-2, 180-pounds; Raw stuff flashed (FB 83-86, T87) and the body is attractive. More impressive was aggressive use of FB and strike-throwing ability. Came after hitters over and over again, mixed in the SL (73-75) and CHG (78-80) while chewing through his two innings (>l, >l, BB/K, E6, 5-4, F4, K). 3.94 GPA.

Dylan Murphy RHP / OF / Cathedral Catholic, CA / 2022 5-foot-10, 150-pounds; RHH; Lean and lithe body type, sinewy strength. Hints of two-way talent flashed throughout the day, starating with a 7.03 60-yard, then posting 86 mph OF arm, 89 mph EV in a nice BP round and a deep double to LF in the game, while also pounding the zone with 80-83 FB & 70-73 SL for 3 IP.

Mark-Anthony Valente 1B / 3B / Escalon, CA / 2022 6-foot-1, 230-pounds; RHH; Burly body, BP round was excellent, efficient, nothing but barrel contact, legit raw power, 100.3 max EV mph, 92.2 avg EV, 66.7% hard hit, sweet spot 77.8%, line drive 77.8%, bat speed 79.9 max, hand speed 23 mph max. Ground rule 2B to RCF in game and another hard hit ball to RF. 3.60 GPA.

2023 GRADS

Isaiah Herrera OF / Valley Christian, CA / 2023 5-foot-9, 165-pounds; R/R; Compact body type with hints of explosiveness with the bat. The bat stands out brightest at this time, 94 mph EV with multiple hard hit balls in BP, 77.8 max bat speed, 23 max hand speed and then went 2-for-3 in game action. Will look for him to improve the 7.49 60-yard and 76 mph OF arm.

Matthew Gobel RHP / OF / Lodi, CA / 2023 6-foot-4, 200-pounds; RHH; Physically imposing body type, long and strong. Flashed big raw tools both with bat and on the mound, FB firm and quick (lots of 86 in his 3 IP, 2195 max spin), SL 71-72 (2512 max spin). Offensively his BP round was loud with 95 max EV, 72.5 max bat speed. 84 mph OF arm. 4.67 GPA.

2024 GRADS

Liam Barrett OF / RHP / Mountain View, CA / 2024 5-foot-11, 160-pounds; LHH; Lean with wiry strength on frame that should expand as he matures. Multi-talented w/high ceiling both on mound and as position player. FB peaked near 83 mph, has makings of good CB 2315 max spin). 96 mph EV, 88 mph OF arm, 7.39 60. 74.1 max bat speed, 22.9 max hand speed. 4.0 GPA.

Ryan Silver OF / Chaminade, CA / 2024 5-foot-10, 155-pounds; R/R; Athletically put together with lean strength. Strong all around day with tools flashing in the workout and game performance with the bat. Solid 7.26 60-yard that will get quicker, 89 mph EV that will go up with strength, 80 mph OF arm. Game at-bats were ringing 2B to LF, single, and F9. 4.29 GPA.
