Boras Classic South: Wednesday Notebook
April 5, 2018
SANTA ANA, CA—The semifinals of the 2018 Boras Classic South are set with Harvard-Westlake HS, CA, taking on JSerra HS, CA, and South Hills HS, CA, taking on La Mirada HS, CA. Those games will take place Thursday evening at JSerra and Mater Dei HS, CA respectively.
Harvard-Westlake advanced by beating Orange Lutheran HS, CA, who won the National High School Invitational just last week. The Wolverines immediately jumped out to a 2-0 lead, as OF Pete Crow-Armstrong (Vanderbilt) singled and SS Drew Bowser (Stanford) dropped a two-run bomb to left field. Crow-Armstrong drove in a run himself in the second when he grounded into a fielder’s choice. That’s all the offense Harvard-Westlake needed, as RHP Jack Limongelli stifled the Lancers’ lineup, holding them to three hits over seven innings. He walked three and struck out four.
South Hills beat Etiwanda HS, CA, 5-4, and La Mirada took down Mater Dei 6-1.
