B.C. Future Games Trials: Quick Hits
June 12, 2022
The PBR British Columbia’s first Future Game Trials was a significant success (barring the rain that had to show up) and was hosted at the beautiful Parkgate Park on the base of the North Shore mountains. The Trials featured 48 prospects across BC as we offer a sneak peek into what we were fortunate to watch on the diamond. The future is bright in British Columbia.
TWO WAY TALENTS
Landon Kauffman OF / LHP / Vancouver College, BC / 2024(UBC Thunder, 2024, Uncommitted) showcased multiple skills on the field during the Trials. Top Exit Velo (98mph), 2nd highest OF Velo (85mph), 3rd quickest 60-yard (7.07), and showed a quality pitching arsenal. Impressive athlete.
|
Logan McNamara 3B / RHP / Centennial Secondary School, BC / 2024(Coquitlam Reds, 2024, Uncommitted) had a productive day during the event in all aspects of the game. McNamara had a solid round of BP, showcasing a gap-to-gap ability with consistent line drives with carry, topping out at 84 for EV. McNamara K’d the side on the bump with a FB/CH/CB arsenal.
|
Ben McKinnon RHP / 3B / Semiahmoo High School, BC / 2024(White Rock Tritons, 2024, Uncommitted) had an all-around day at the park this past week. Top-5 in Exit Velo, FB Velo, and Infield Velo. McKinnon has a lively FB with run and a sharp CB on the hill. Had a basesclearing 2B during game action as well.

THE BATS
Oliver Clements SS / 3B / Vancouver College, BC / 2024(UBC Thunder, 2024, Uncommitted) was an infielder with some of the event’s best hands. He moves well around the infield and creates angles, moving side to side fluidly. At the dish, Clements popped a 91mph EV and consistent barrels gap-to-gap.
|
Logan Booth OF / RHP / Gw graham, BC / 2025(Chilliwack Cougars, 2025, Uncommitted) was impressive with the bat from the left side. A simple timing approach and quick hands with physicality work well. The top EV was 88mph, and there are lots to like now, with plenty of room for growth.
|
Declan Spooner C / 1B / North Shore Academy , BC / 2024(North Shore Twins, 2024, Uncommitted) had one of the smoothest and most projectable swings at the Trials. Levered and on time, Spooner used all parts of the field to send barreled line drives. Must follow backstop.

THE ARMS
Shane Brinham LHP / OF / Hands worth , BC / 2025(North Shore Twins, 2025, Uncommitted) had an impressive FB/SL combo that left hitters with frail swings and headed back to the dugout. Brinham has a live arm and a good ride on his FB (80-82, T83) with a sharp SL (68-69) as a left-handed pitcher with promise.
|
Carter Germain LHP / 1B / Meadowridge, BC / 2024(Langley Blaze, 2024, Uncommitted) showed flashes of a high ceiling with his three-pitch mix. With his cross-body throwing motion and strong physique, Germain could be a top LHP in the region. He topped at 82mph on the day and with an arm-side run on his fastball. SL has a good horizontal break at 67-69mph.
|
Sam Tusa RHP / 3B / Vancouver College, BC / 2024(North Shore Twins, 2024, Uncommitted) had the best outing on the mound during the event with a filthy FB/SL combo. FB 82-83 T84, SL 71-73. Big physicality gets downhill well and on hitters quickly. In addition, Tusa had a 91mph Exit Velo with carry on the ball.
