Uncommitted Spotlight: Brody Sexton

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at 2022 C Brody Sexton (Chandler).

2022 C Brody Sexton (Chandler)- Attended his first PBR event with us a couple weeks back, competing at our Preseason All-State Games. We had seen him in our live coverage prior but the way he competed at the event has quickly helped establish himself as one of the top catching prospects in the state of Arizona in the 2022 class. Offensively, there is above average pop coming out of the strong compact 5-10/175-pound frame, displaying feel for the barrel with some bat speedWith a couple of adjustments in slotting the barrel, the consistency could improve greatly down the road. With his current feel in the box, he already logs mid 90's exit velocities with a mid/pull approach. As good as he was with the bat, his best attribute could be his defense where he has natural low center of gravity. He showed off elite catch & throw skills, logging 1.86-1.91 pop times with 78mph arm strength. Translated to the game throwing out a runner from his knees. Has soft hands with some ability to receive the low strike. He also seemed to have some grit to his game that is appreciated. Sexton should be a strong follow going into the spring season.
